"Okay stay just like that!"
Talia came to my room so she can take a picture of me with my pink polaroid camera.
She was dressed in some distressed light wash Jeans, a light pink shirt with the word VSCO in white letters in the center and a pair of black Nikes.
I posed for a good 10 seconds as she stood on a chair looking down at me with the polaroid.
After snapping my pose she waited for the photo. This was the third photo that came out just as great as the others.
In my head I was thanking God that Von didn't bust in our room like he was a part of a swat team. He messed up my last photo two weeks ago because of how aggressive he was towards the door.
That photo depicted me getting hit on the head by a door. My head was hurting for a week. I wanted to burn the photo but Talia argued that it should be kept.
Von had decided to go to the store to get a few groceries and that was the perfect opportunity to do it.
I heard the front door close shut from where I was and I sat up because I knew Von was back from the store.
He sat the groceries on the table once he saw me come out the room. "Von you're back" he took off his trench coat and placed it on the coat rack in our apartment.
Me and Talia helped him put the groceries up and then I went outside on the balcony.
I looked around seeing people walk around and other people associating with each other. I watched this guy stand beside his car, and another carrying boxes into this apartment complex, come back out and do it again.
The moon was out but the sky was still a light shade of blue.
I watched the leaves blow in the wind and fall on the ground. One fell on this man's head. He didn't even feel it because of the full head of hair he had. He was just minding his own business, preparing to get into a Sudan with that leaf on his head, so I watched until the wind decided it wanted to carry it away.
I was staring into space thinking about what it would be like to see the rest of the world until one word caught my attention.
"Hi" I looked up from the ground and followed the sound of that voice.
A guy leaned up against the railing on the balcony of the apartment building right next to mine, twisting a red leaf in his hand.
How long has he been leaning there?
The same color as the leaf that gracefully landed on that man's head below.
He was staring at it and then finally looked at me.
As I looked at him, realizing how attractive he was, I didn't hesitate to respond.
"Hi."
"What are you thinking about?" he asked.
"What place to travel to when I decide to live on my own" I say leaning on this pole connected to the balcony.
"Ah, I too have wondered where am I going next" he said.
"Do you have an answer" I say.
"Yes I've always had the answer" he said.
"Do you mind telling me?" I asked.
"If you stick around you may figure it out" he smirked and looked at me one more time before going inside the slide door that led to the inside of his apartment.
I stare at the door for a bit. My conscience was telling me to hurry and look away before you're caught staring.
I looked back out over the balcony, the wind started to blow the trees in one different direction.
I turned around to see Von standing in the doorway from the balcony to the inside of our apartment.
He looked around with a weird face and I walked past him.
He closed the slide door behind me.
I could already tell what he was thinking about saying but I was hoping that he didn't say anything.
I started to prepare for dinner sense it was getting late. I took out a tortilla pack and the ingredients I wanted to put on our quesadillas I was preparing. I diced some tomatoes, cut up some grilled chicken, and placed three tortillas on the large wooden cutting board next to half of the ingredients I cut up.
I put the grilled chicken on top of the tortilla, along with some mozzarella cheese, and bacon bits. I placed the tortillas on a sheet of aluminum and placed them in the oven, cooking at 350 degrees. Then I went to go find a movie for us to watch while I wait. I heard the shower running in Von's bathroom but I paid more attention to the movies I've collected so far that sat on the TV stand.
Talia came out of our room and ran her index finger over the movies I picked out.
It was my turn to pick the movie this time. I decided on Van Helsing and went to check on the tortillas.
I finally took them out when they were done and placed them on a plate that sat on a tray. I took out some tortilla chips and the queso I made before I started posing for the polaroid. I put the chips beside the tortillas and I held the tortia bag up under my arm.
Von came out his room with sweatpants on and a white t.
I sat the huge tray and the chips on the coffee table. I sat down for a second then I rose back up to fix us all something to drink.
As time flew by and the movie was over, we ended up watching Netflix till we got tired. Von eventually ended up falling asleep towards the end, after we decided to watch Netflix. Talia and I cleaned up and placed a blanket over his body; leaving his head uncovered. I made sure everything was turned off and placed his phone on the charger for him because I know how upset he gets when he doesn't remember to do it himself.
I went in his room to gather his clothes for work tomorrow because he's gonna be too lazy to pick it out.
I looked through the hanging clothes in his closet.
I reach up on a rack to grab his black leather shoes and a box fell, almost hitting me in the head in the process. I threw the shoes outside the closet door and tried to put my right foot back on the floor without falling.
My foot touched something hard but cold. I pulled myself up then put my right foot back on the floor in a different spot and I finally got down.
I sighed, hoping I didn't wake Von. I looked down thinking I was going to be seeing a box but I saw a pistol instead.
I put the lethal weapon that had fallen out the shoebox back where it was before I came in here. I took a black suit off the rack and put it on the bed.
I left his room and went back to mine.
Talia was laying on the bed watching The Purge. I got up under the covers and pulled my laptop on my lap.
Iran a hand through my hair *sighs*.
Protection..huh? Well what's the harm. It's better to not say anything for now.
I sat with my back against the headboard and rubbed at my tired eyes.
A few hours went by and the sound of the tv started to fade away.
Talia eventually fell asleep and I kept dozing off with my laptop still in my lap.
I decided to wake myself up to take a shower and then climb back in bed and under the sheets with Talia. I found myself thinking about the boy from the balcony.
Greylar....what a unique name.
I wonder if he's out there now, on the balcony.
I was hoping he'd be out there when I decide to get up but I didn't move.
I thought back to old times when the idea of having two beds in this room was stupid. Talia thought that it was a bit cramp to have two mattresses in here. And my mattress was newer so we settled for only using one and selling the other.
As I laid there and thought randomly, my eyes became heavy and I soon found the sleep I was searching for.
