Polar-perfect

I came back to the house around 9 and Talia and Von are sitting on the couch looking at me.

Ugh please not now. I just want to sleep.

"Where were you?" Von asked.

"With a friend."

I walked towards my room and they both followed.

"You okay?" Talia asked.

I nod.

I took my phone out my pocket and the photo I shoved in there fell out and on to the floor. It just so happen to land on the side where you can see the picture of Greylar and not the side he wrote on.

Talia happened to spot it as I was trying to pick it up before they noticed.

"Is that him?" I turned towards Talia.

"Wait is it the same person I heard you talking too on the balcony?" Von folded his arms.

"Yes" Von looked at me, uncertain of what to say but not giving me any suspicious or weird looks.

"Did something happen?" Von asked me.

"What? No I'm fine." They both stared at me.

"You seem off though" Talia sits on the edge of the bed.

As soon as I placed the picture on the nightstand I remembered that I left my polaroid on the balcony.

"I'm just surprised that I had a good time" I smiled.

I walked passed them to go get my polaroid off the balcony.

I'm just surprised one of the many places you could go in the world...he chose a field full of sunflowers. I mean that sounds like something I would do. But it was sweet in someway.

It wasn't a date but it felt like one.

Ughh why is it that when I'm dating someone it never goes right.

One guy tried to play footsies with me; another date I went on, I was debating with the guy and he was giving me toxic masculinity vibes; another one was just being weird and aggressive and after that I was like I just need to stop at this point.

And the one time I actually have a good time it's not even a date.

At the sunflower field ...

I was going to say some cringy crap like: You must take all the girls here but I think I'd just sound like I'm in a romcom.

"So this is where you'd go if you could go anywhere in the world" I say.

"Yea. Have you thought of where you would go?" he rests his arms on his knees.

"Its like this. I want to see new things but I don't know where I should look for them. I feel stuck.

I'm much more interested in the places you would go though. Considering the fact that your first place is a sunflower field" I said watching the sun slowly set.

"Really. I have another place in mind but I'm going to need your number. For location and safety purposes of course" he said watching crows fly off into the distance then his eyes found its way back to me.

"....righttt" I say not convinced.

He gave me his phone so I could add my number to his contact list. After taking a minute or two to put my number in I saved my name with the number and gave him back his phone.

"So what do you do besides take pictures of strangers?" He said scratching his head.

"College, photography, ummm hiking. Nothing too fancy" I said playing with my fingers.

"You don't seem like the outdoors type" he said rubbing the rings on his fingers.

"I am when it doesn't involve too many people. I'm not use to crowded places. They make me uncomfortable."

"What's college like?" He said, listening attentively.

"It can be a bit boring and nerve-wracking at times but I try to make the most of it.

"Photography you say, tell me about that" he said sounding like he was intrigued.

"It's super fun and the pictures I've taken are absolutely gorgeous. I kind of wish I brought my camera now, this place is beautiful." I exhaled.

"There's going to be more adventures so make sure you don't forget too."

I wish I could of stayed and talk to him longer but I knew I had an essay due by Monday morning and I wanted to get it done early.

After Von left our room Talia crawled up under the covers.

I closed the door and stripped out of everything I had on. I tossed everything except my hoodie and shoes in the hamper and walked into the bathroom.

I was getting ready to place a long shower cap over my head until my phone vibrated on the bathroom counter, indicating that I received a text.

I placed the cap on my head, making sure I didn't feel uncomfortable with how it was placed.

I unlocked my phone using my thumb print and pulled down my notification bar.

Greylar: I hope you had a great time.

Mmm...what should I say.

Ummm.

I pressed on the notification and it took me right to my messages.

I read the message again.

Greylar: I hope you had a great time

I tapped on the empty spaces in between the message box for a bit before responding.

Me: I did thanks for taking me there.

I had fun. How did you find the place?

I exited out of the message but still held my phone in my hand.

I waited for a second and the phone vibrated on my fingertips.

I quickly looked at the screen and clicked on the message.

Greylar: I was driving to go see someone and stumbled upon it. Normally I don't let strangers in my car but you don't seem normal so I'm find with it.

Me: Was that supposed to be a compliment? I think I'm normal enough.

I decided to not exited out of my messages and another message popped up.

Greylar: If you have to tell yourself you're normal, you definitely are not.

I quickly responded to it.

Me: I wasn't telling myself. I was telling you that I was normal enough. Do you have an obsession with weirdos? I don't know any so I honestly can't help you. Let me know when you've signed up for the club. I don't mind hearing all about it.

He responded a little faster also.

Greylar: We're not really a club so.

Me: Will I get to meet these "friends"?

Greylar: Sorry you can't sit with us...No more room.

I don't know if I wanted to laugh or just not respond.

Me: Oh I would of expected you to have a lot of room since no one wants to sit with you anyway. But my mistake.

Greylar: You're funny. Congrats, you've made it in. No way you're getting out now.

Me: Wow is holding people hostage the only way you can join the club and make friends.

Greylar: Its a facade to keep the fakes away.
