CHAPTER 10: FIRST FRIEND

Sunny’s POV

“Miss Peruvian, would you like to see your grades for this semester?” My professor asked me as soon as everyone was able to step out of our classroom. “No ma’am, no need,” I spoke.

My professor glared at me, her thick eyeglasses made her look like my real mom. We were both wearing thick round eyeglasses although she is definitely not my favorite prof, and so I am not her favorite either since I am not the smartest student in her class. “Miss Peruvian, you need to take this seriously, two years from now and the graduation will finally take place but we are not sure yet whether you’ll be involved in that ceremony or not.”

Why does she sound just like my sister?

I averted my gaze, pretending as if I was really listening to whatever she was saying. “You still have a chance, Miss Peruvian. Only if you’ll agree with having a tutor. Or maybe, ask one of your friends to help you study. I barely even see you with someone inside the school premises, do you have friends, Miss Peruvian?”

“I-I do, I do have friends, Miss. B-But not here inside the school. I-I have friends a-at home.”

At least I have Seb.

“Alright then whoever those friends you are talking, at least ask some help from them, okay? You may leave no,” she said as she leaned on her chair, flipping her hair back as if she was so stressed after talking to me. “Thank, Miss.”

I heaved a sigh as I stepped out of that hell. For sure she’s going to tell it to mom again and for sure, mom’s going to take my phone away from me again and have me grounded for a week. Too bad, I can still write stories using a pen and a notebook.

Ugh, now I remember having to meet that bastard’s parents tomorrow night. I don’t even know how I would greet them how am I going to approach them when I’m not really good at mingling at people. Oh well, maybe I’ll just sit there and smile at them. I can do everything so that they wouldn’t like to see me again. “S-Sunny…”

I almost slipped when someone suddenly appeared in front of me. A cute short-haired brunette with a cute mole under her right eye. She almost looked like a woman who came out from an anime with her big round eyes and full pink lips. How can she have such white flawless skin? Is she using milk to take a bath? “H-Hi.. W-What’s up?” I said, forcing a smile. Dam these kinds of moments.

“I-I actually heard your conversation with Miss Daniella…”

“O-Oh, really? Well, yes. I think I failed too many subjects again like I always do.”

She bit her lower lip and that was the cutest lip bite I have ever seen in my life, should I ask her to be the real-life portrayer of my next heroine?

“Actually… I want to help you, Sunny…” she said, almost mumbling.

“Help me? Help me with what?”

She looked at me, “I-I can help you study…”

“Help me study?” I almost laughed, “O-Oh, I apologize. Wait, may I know your name first?”

“M-My name’s Natalie. Natalie Carper.”

I nodded, “Natalie, thank you so much for your offer and your concern. But I don’t think there’s even a solution with me having no interest in studying.”

“But Sunny, you can still try. I will help you, trust me, you’ll also find the will to study.”

“But—

“Don’t worry, I won’t charge you… although there’s something that I want to ask from you…”

“What is that?”

She bit her lip once more, playing with her fingers before finally raising her head and looked at me, “C-Can I be f-friends with you?”

My eyes widened as I looked at her, “Are you kidding me? You, want to be friends with me?”

“Y-Yes, please?”

I stared at her, giving her a chance to back out. I can’t even remember the time when someone actually asked me to be friends with them, or nobody really did. “Are you sure? I mean, with me? A person like me?”

“A-Actually Sunny… I’ve been watching you for a long time now, a-and I-I am also a fan of your novels…”

And that made me surprise even more, “You mean, you have read my novels?!”

“Y-Yes… and when I saw you studying here, I felt so happy… Especially upon knowing that we’re actually classmates.” She looked down, “You are my favorite author and I do really admire you, that’s why I want to help you… I want you to graduate and write more books…”

Damn, why is she so fucking adorable?! I almost want to hug her!

“B-But I’ll understand if you don’t want to be friends with me…”

“No! Of course, I want to be friends with you. I actually don’t have any friends here so I’m so happy that there is still someone who’s willing to befriend me. And also, you told me that you’re one of my readers, thank you so much for appreciating my books.”

A huge smile suddenly appeared on her face, showing two tiny dimples on both sides of her smile. “R-Really? You are finally my friend?!”

“Of course…”

“Thank you so much, Sunny!” she cooed, suddenly lunging onto me and hugged me tightly. “I’m so happy to finally become your friend!”

I gently patted her back while smiling. I finally have a friend. I’m going to tell to Mira, for sure she’ll be surprised. When Natalie finally moved away from me, we both smiled at each other. “So, that means that starting from now on, we’ll be eating lunch breaks together, right? And we’ll be also going home together?”

“Er… sure…”

“And also, I would start helping you with the subjects that you are finding hard tomorrow.” She said with a smile.

I nodded as I smiled at her too, “S-Sure, thank you so much.”

I never really thought that things like this could possibly happen, I never imagined myself having a friend in this school. I never imagine someone approaching me and asking me to be their friend. But today is different because someone actually talked to me and asked for my permission to be her friend. I never imagined it to give me this kind of feeling. I never knew that it feels so good to finally find a friend.
