“No.” Raum tries to shout, but his voice barely makes it out of his throat.

“You don’t get a say!” Andras’ voice shakes the entire room, and she can feel his rage at her back. “The only reason I haven’t killed you is because you’re bonded to my child. You tricked her into sharing her soul so you can have political power. Did you think there wouldn’t be consequences? I failed as her father by trusting you with her, and I will take that out on you.”

Andras walks around until Sauda can see him. He puts his hand on her shoulder and squeezes tight. “Hold on to your rage and pull. Pull your power out of him. If anything goes wrong, I’ll step in.”

Pulling on his rage was easy. Easier than this. Grabbing a hold of her power inside him was like pushing through a crack in a steel wall. Trying to pull it out felt like going backwards through that crack as it was closing.
