Chapter 36

The death of his brother and first son? Ron wondered. Could that be Zedekiel's father and brother? The ones Queen mother told him about?

"I was not a traitor, Ron" Kayziel continued. "I never betrayed my own people. I only wanted peace but those filthy Ashenmores used me. They tricked me and successfully trapped my brother, his son, and all the guards that escorted them"

His voice was now filled with so much anger and resentment that Ron couldn't help but shiver in fear. He unconsciously moved away from the Elf spirit.

"We were supposed to be at peace. My brother trusted me to take care of all the proceedings. The King of Ashenmore, King Rafael, had signed on the treaty and taken an oath of peace between our species but little did I know that they would betray us"

Ron was shocked. King Rafael? That was his great great great grandfather! The fiercest King Ashenmore ever had. He had heard so much about his great great great grandfather but he never heard anything about him having a war with the Elves. In fact, he never knew Elves and humans had such a bad history.

Kayziel suddenly looked at Ron then he gave an eerie smile. It made Ron's heart pound in fear. "Whether or not you like it, Rafael's blood still runs in you" he said. "Why don't I show you the despicable immoral things your own people had done to us? Let me show you how we suffered and how I ended up in this place!"

There was a flash of blinding light and Ron passed out.

When Ron woke up, he was on top of a horse as black as coal. He was dressed in navy blue robes with light blue, almost white swirly patterns. Ron was confused. Wasn't he talking to a spirit just now? Where was he?

"Your Highness, King Rafael is here" a man beside Ron said.

Ron nodded. "Let's go". He got down from the horse and started walking with the man towards a building. He didn't want to but he did. His own body was moving on it's own.

Wait a minute...

King Rafael?!!! What the fuck!!! He was going to meet his own great great great grandfather!!!

He wanted to ask where he was and why he was there but his body wasn't co-operating. He suddenly noticed that his body looked bigger and older. He had a lot of muscles. His hair was also silver and shoulder long. How did his body change?!

He took a look at the man beside him and noticed that the man was wearing plain black robes. He had blonde hair and also had pointy ears. Ron's ear twitched. He had a feeling his ears were also pointy. He was an Elf!

Ron was so confused. Did he traverse? But if he did, shouldn't he be in control of his own body? What was going on?

They soon got to the building and they went in. Ron marvelled at how big the interior was. It was almost as large as the hall in Netheridge and it was quite cool. The curtains were green and gold and the floor looked like it was made of ice but very comfortable to walk on.

"Prince Kayziel" Ron heard someone call. He reacted and that was when he knew that the body he was in, belonged to Kayziel. Ron then understood that he was seeing history through Kayziel's eyes! He was going to see what happened to Zedekiel's father and brother. He was going to see what his very own ancestors did to the Elves. He was going to see the real history, not what they have been told or what they read.

That was why no matter what he did, he couldn't control Kayziel's body or his words. He was just a spectator. Everything was going the way it did before.

"King Rafael" Ron said, facing a his own great great great grandfather. He bowed deeply then stood straight. "I'm sorry. My brother, the King, couldn't make it today. He had to stay back to attend to very important court matters. He sent me here on his behalf"

Ron saw that he looked a lot like his great great great grandfather. The hair was the same colour. Natural red. Only that King Rafael's was longer, reaching his shoulders, making him look mature while Ron's were bouncy beautiful curls that made him look adorable and boyish. Ron had bright emerald eyes while King Rafael's were a deep deep green. They were so deep one could mistake them as black.

King Rafael clearly wasn't happy and didn't bother to hide it. "What could be so important that he couldn't leave you to handle? How can he send a mere Prince to discuss issues of peace with me? Or does he not trust you to handle matters of the court? Is he afraid you will steal his throne?"

The little Prince could feel it. All of Kayziel's emotions and at that point, Kayziel was angry but he repressed it and just smiled. "If Your Majesty is displeased to have me here, we can reschedule the meeting so that my brother will have the chance to attend"

"No. That's just a waste of time. We've both come from far places" King Rafael replied. "Since your brother sent you, you must be capable. Come, let's see what you can do"

Ron could feel it. Kayziel was nervous but he trusted his own abilities. He knew he could negotiate well. If not, his brother wouldn't have sent him.

This love and trust the brothers have for each other... Ron thought it was beautiful. This way, no one can come between them.

King Rafael and Prince Kayziel sat facing each other on hard stone chairs with a stone table between them and the discussion started. The people who escorted King Rafael stood behind him and the only person who escorted Prince Kayziel stood by his side.

Prince Ron was wondering why Prince Kayziel would bring only one person. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, King Rafael spoke in a condescending tone; "One bodyguard, Prince Kayziel? Is it that you think too highly of yourself or do you undermine our abilities? Do you think both of you can take all of us on your own if things go south?"
