Steve wasn't quite aware of what happened.
All he remembered was that over-productive adrenaline rush, of which forced goosebumps over goosebumps across his skin!
He almost had a heart-attack come to think of it, as the last thing he expected was for the floor itself to open up!
Through the overall disaster, he had put in effort to reach his sister. She was just a child after all, and could use any bit of help she could get.
Yet still, the young man's attempt swiftly proved useless!
As his vision was enveloped with nothing but darkness, so of course it was difficult to find anyone after that point.
What helped make a tiny bit of sense out of this dilemma, where the several whistles that sounded out due to their free-fall!
It aided them to understand that the hole they had fallen in, was far deeper than anyone would want it to be.
And as these same whistles became louder, Steve could figure out that they all would die soon; as the impact would simply be too much to handle!
...
After what felt like an eternity later, a headache forced the young man to wake up.
He rubbed his eyes a little bit and spotted a figure of a tall creature. His eyes were in a blur right now, so he couldn't make up who this figure was.
"Are you okay?" This same creature questioned.
But that collection of words alone, managed to scare the living hell out of Steve!
This figure sounded robotic, which should not be possible in this medieval timeline.
Of course he couldn't think about conspiracy theories right now. Instead, he was once more close to a heart attack!
He tried to move away from this odd figure, but felt that his limbs were beyond sore!
It took little thinking to figure out that the recent disaster had roughed him up. That fact helped make sense out of the odd scene he saw now.
Steve shook his head a few times in order to force drowsiness away, and then met with quite a shift!
It felt as if his ears had been activated with the click of a button! His hearing senses felt fully functional once more.
The boy's vision cleared up as well. So now it was easy to comprehend who stood in front of him.
Undoubtedly, this was Altima and she seemed quite roughed up as well.
Her metal armour and fur-coat seemed to have been torn. Specifically, a few inches underneath the chest!
This damage was undoubtedly related to the fall, but the lady could stand up straight as well. So perhaps her skin received just a tiny scratch throughout the disaster?
That aside, the frog lady seemed soaked and covered with patches of mud.
Her appearance was scathed for sure, yet there still was a light in her eyes that seemed unyielding.
She was willing to handle the aftermath of the disaster, and this simply gave her a unique beauty.
The young man was stunned by such details. So he had awkwardly locked eyes with the lady for a good half minute, and didn't utter a single word.
He didn't speak until he became self aware, and after that point he decided to break the tension.
"I'm okay," He answered at first.
And then complimented, "I never knew that mud could look so good on someone. You look more alive than ever."
After that point the lady simply avoided eye contact, and could feel a small blush forcing itself beneath her eye ducts.
She didn't want to make such a reaction obvious, so she swiftly shifted the topic.
"Your sister's waiting for us, she's been worried sick about you." Altima informed.
"Is she okay?" The young man instantly pressured.
"Yes she's fine. She hasn't been hurt at all actually." The other confirmed.
Right after, Steve lightly joked around. "There's a saying that kids are protected by angels."
And then he tried to stand up, but seemed to have forgotten one key fact.
He too was soaking wet and quite muddy even. So of course the young man slipped before he could properly stand up, and accidentally propelled himself forwards.
Altima was in front of the boy, and for once this was considered bad luck.
The couple of frogs clashed against each other as a result, which was the base reason towards another dilemma.
Typically the lady would be strong enough to halt this man's unstable pace, with the aid of one hand; she was perfectly capable to do so.
But in this situation she was simply coated with watery mud. So her foothold was beyond unstable.
And once the boy crashed against her, she was quite literally swept off her feet!
They crashed against the mud together, and slid a couple of meters across the slippery ground, until they met with a bit of water.
Steve had been on top of the lady through this embarrassing dilemma. So necessarily, these couple of friends were closer than ever.
And regardless of the fact that they were soaking wet, they could still feel each other's body-heat ~ which was almost odd as they were both clothed thickly.
After they stopped sliding, the couple of frogs got a close look of each other's eyes!
If the lady had not worn any thick body armour, their soft facial skins could have touched each other. Such a fate would be even more difficult to handle.
Altima became quite embarrassed at the end. So she pushed the young man away from herself, and straight into the mud!
Afterwards they both tried to stand up, but the slippery mud had asserted dominance already.
It forced them to crash down over each other a few times, until these couple of friends finally broke into a hysterical laugh.
They were quite aware of how hilarious this situation proved to be, and such a sudden shift of aura eventually became useful.
Not only had it shattered the awkward tension, but it also helped them think more clearly.
They decided that it was the best idea to crawl towards firm grounds, and that had literally gotten them out of the mud.
Steve truly helped the lady stand up after that point, and now had the time to take a proper look of this entire place.
It didn't take much observation to figure out that they were in some sort of cavern, which was noticeable even though this place was poorly illuminated.
The cavern itself was at least two-hundred meters wide, and it's flooring mostly contained a large pool of water.
The naked eye could capture several portions of dry land, but those spots were coated with tall pointy rocks.
There seemingly was only one bit of land that was flat enough, and these frogs were on that portion at the moment.
After Steve got a good glimpse of these surroundings, he had space to think about another portion of this overall dilemma.
Likewise he questioned, "How are the revolutionaries? Are they hurt?"
The lady hesitated to answer for a few seconds, but then she found enough reasons to be informative.
"Richard is the only one who survived the fall," She revealed.
And then explained, "The rest didn't land on water."
After that point, Steve did not want to ask for any more details. He had noticed that there were a lot of tall, stone spikes around them. So chances were that some of those deaths had been very graphic.
In the meantime the couple of friends slid their way towards drier grounds, until they saw a small fire.
Trinia and Richard were around this warm source of illumination, and they both were seemingly distracted.
The little lady just blankly glanced at the fire, and was into some type of deep thought.
As for the only one in the revolutionaries who made it this far, he was busy frying tiny shards of rocks, out of his bloody hip.
The procedure seemed painful, as this man used a heated dagger to flick those small rocks out of his skin; but at least he seemed skilled through that effort.
That and he thankfully didn't scream like a maniac in the process. Or else this scene would have been a lot more uncomfortable.
Once the tiny frog noticed that her brother had arrived, she stood up right away and joy enveloped her tone.
'Stevey!" She yelled.
Afterwards she rushed towards the boy, and gave out quite a strong hug.
"I thought you were dead!" She continued to shout.
But this time her voice sounded slimy, as the little lady had surely gotten a little bit emotional.
And before he could comfort this good child, she hollered. "Altima has been looking for you all this time, we've been here forever!"
"We've only been here for a couple of hours," The big body-guard lady corrected.
Firstly Steve decided to comfort his sister. Thankfully such a procedure was almost effortless.
As he only had to state, "I can't die when you are around me,"
Afterwards he pried himself out of the tiny lady's grip, and crouched down a little bit to meet the other's size.
He ruffled the tiny girl's hair and assured, "You're my good luck charm, that's why I brought you here with me."
The little girl wiped a few tears off her face afterwards, and then hugged her brother again, right before she went back towards the campfire to warm up.
In exchange, Steve was given some time to face his bodyguard and tinker with a unique topic.
Through a light tone he teased, "You looked for me all this time ha? Two hours?"
"I am your bodyguard!" The other slightly shouted.
And then excused, "If you die then I have to cut one of my fingers, honour is important to me."
"Hey preachy goody two-shoes," Richard interrupted.
He had seemingly fried out the few stone shards that were in his hip. A good hint towards such a conclusion was that he didn't hold a dagger anymore.
That aside, he seemed to have a few other worries.
"We can't turn back now, this place is huge so we can't climb up even if we tried." He described.
And then pressured, "So we need to go through that weird door over there. We don't have another option."
"What weird door?" Steve questioned, as he felt absolutely clueless.
