How deeply could various metals be understood?

"There's a rusty door over there, but it's sealed shut." Altima was the first to point out.

"Weird... who'd put up a door down here?" Steve questioned.

And then the lady by his side instantly concluded, "Maybe it's just another prison the city has made before? This place is pretty roomy."

"I don't care what it is, but I sure as hell ain't staying here." Richard broke into the conversation once more.

And then pressured, "We can't go back, and no one's gonna come look for us in this hell-hole."

"Yes, your great revolutionary friends won't go where there's no gold. What a shame." The tall lady taunted.

In an instant the other slightly yelled, "Don't patronize me, woman."

And then forced himself up on his feet. Afterwards this cranky frog headed towards the door, and had quite a desperate pace.

As the wound he had on his hip, forced this man to drag one leg across the ground.

The rest of the team could only follow behind. As even though this revolutionary whined quite a lot, he made a lot of sense a moment ago.

They simply could not depend on luck anymore, as this place was definitely forgotten by time; no one would casually wander down here.

That aside, the revolutionaries wouldn't dare to dwell in this vicinity. Especially if there were no signs of survival from the crew, who had been sent to explore that dungeon to begin with.

With such motivations, the team eventually reached this so-called rusty door.

It was located about thirty meters away from the campfire, so it didn't take much effort to find it.

A torch had survived the fall earlier, so Altima had lit it in the campfire they left behind.

Now they could get a better peek at this little structure. But it didn't take an analyst's mind to figure out that there wasn't much to see here.

A six foot tall, metal door had been set up straight. And it was supported by a similarly tall chunk of dirt and stone.

Apart from those few details, there truly wasn't anything else to see.

This entire door was held together by dried out mud, so this obviously wasn't a gate to an extravagant structure.

"You seriously think that this door will get us out anywhere?" Steve opposed.

He wasn't satisfied with this idea, it didn't look like a solution at all.

Unsurprisingly Richard answered with a holler, "If you know a better way out, I'm all ears!"

"I don't know one unfortunately," The young man admitted.

And then he peeked at the door once more. There was no other option but to embrace this desperate idea, so now he aimed to expand that very topic.

For that matter he only had to ask a question, "What kinda metal is this door made of anyway? It can't be that tough, we can just rip it off its hinges."

"Iron probably," Altima expressed slowly, as she wasn't entirely sure.

At that moment, the tiniest lady in their group walked towards the door in question, and crouched down near it.

She reached out a hand and touched this rusty piece of metal, and remained quiet for a few seconds.

After a moment she spoke out, "It's copper and iron, they're mixed together."

The rest of the team looked at one another afterwards, and it was clear to see that they all had the same question.

But yet most of them remained quiet, and allowed the little girl's sibling to handle this.

Likewise Steve eventually questioned, "How do you know that, Trina?"

The little girl didn't answer. Instead she stood up and took a few steps away from the door.

Within an instant she casually flung one of her arms forward, and allowed some sort of light to generate in front of her palm!

This light was bright yellow in colour, and it was shaped like a one-foot long pyramid.

There were a bunch of triangles of various sizes, which were imprinted on each wall of this odd bit of light, but the naked eye couldn't capture such details.

As the same bit of weirdly-shaped illumination struck against the door in an instant!

An ear-piercing screech enveloped the area afterwards! The team covered their ears instantly thanks to their reflexes, but that seemed like a worthless effort.

Their ears rang beyond control and they had to yell a few times, until a few portions of their hearing senses came back. Otherwise communication would have been bleak.

"What was that?" Richard yelled out once more.

"A spell," Trinia casually answered.

And afterwards she described, "I can understand any type of metal with this spell, and a few shiny stones too."

At the end the little lady sealed this topic off as she described, "This kinda magic helps me find a weak spot on metals, that's why I figured out how to break this door."

"So much power in a twelve-year old..." Altima lightly sighed as a smile grew across her face.

Richard gained some confidence after he witnessed such a raw display of power, so he wanted to cooperate once more.

Which was why he expressed, "Long as she can get us out of here, I don't care if she's a witch or not."

Such a statement came out horribly wrong, but at least his heart was in the right place, even though the actual motivation was oriented towards mutual benefit.

The actual comment was ignored, as they focused on the door which this lady had penetrated.

A foot wide hole laid close to where the door's handle was supposed to be, and such a detail could be used to their advantage.

One could push their arm across this same hole, and figure out a way to open such a heavy chunk of metal.

An alternative option was to shoot this door a couple more times, and simply hope for the best.

Yet regardless of what could have been the best choice, it didn't seem like the team had to think of a solution anymore.

As the whole chunk of metal leaned directly towards them! The recent damage must have roughed it up a bit too much.

It almost crashed against their heads, but thankfully the body-guard lady was tall, and strong enough to rough handle their way out of trouble!

Eventually she pushed the whole door to the side, just a few feet away from its former spot, and crashed it against the muddy ground.

So now they got the chance to peek at just what had been behind this darned thing.

It took a single torch to figure out its contents, and unsurprisingly there was a staircase laid out.

A moment earlier, they felt sure that there wouldn't be anything to see in between a pile of mud, but they still hoped for the best.

A stone staircase of this liking seemed beyond helpful. It was old, chipped and mossy, but it could still be used to their advantage!

It took little time for the whole group to decide that they should follow this path, regardless of where it led.

And before they did so, Steve held his sister tightly around his right side.

Afterwards he revealed, "These stairs look slippery, can't let you break a leg in this place."

Richard acknowledged such behaviour, so he peeked at the tallest lady of this group.

And then he requested, "You have to carry me for a while, my hip can't handle all that walking."

He sounded reasonable here at least. This route seemed endlessly deep, so it wasn't a great place for an injured man.

Altima cooperated once more, even though she heaved out a long sigh in protest.

At the end she grabbed this man behind the collar, and managed to lift him up with one hand.

She didn't want to get any closer to a revolutionary, but she could still help the other from such a distance.

And so the group dwelled deeper towards this new route. The ceiling on top of their head was closed in, so they had to crouch a lot through the process.

Such a procedure spiked their anxiety quite a bit, as they almost felt sure that this tunnel would be their grave.

They expected this place to collapse above their head, as they felt sure that a little commotion would trigger such a casualty.

But thankfully they went through this tunnel safe and sound, and met with a unique scene.

Considering that this staircase led them a hundred more meters underground, they expected to see quite a few cells.

The idea made sense to a certain extent, as perhaps the toughest criminals of that time were kept down here?

But no, the vicinity was beyond what they expected!

They were in a stone corridor of some sort, that was for sure.

The only difference was that this rough structure was twice as wide, and had a few more interesting details laid across it.

A large variety of weeds spread around in this place. Everything seemed so colourful, that one would think every shade of nature had been trapped in this corridor.

Green features captured their vision, but so did every other coloration that mother nature could produce

Yet as beautiful as this place seemed, it was still difficult to figure out just how all of this was possible!
