The whole scene was truly beyond their comprehension.
It was not that some weeds were too fantastic, but the concept behind this scene proved itself bewildering.
The cavern they had left behind along with the prison cells, looked dead and abandoned, that was for sure.
Yet this corridor, which was deeper underground, somehow had a stunning amount of life in it!
No one in the group could fully understand how that was possible, especially since such a place would surely require a lot of maintenance.
The team's comprehension was limited, but at least the scene was easy on their conscious. They could genuinely relax here, and push some stress away too.
Steve was about to speak after they briefly observed this place's features, but an ear-piercing sound managed to cut his first word in half!
Fear itself didn't allow the boy to speak any further. And all he felt afterwards was a strong hand on his back, which forced him to strut directly forward!
Sounds of heavy-toned screeches covered the group's ears through those few seconds, this detail helped them understand what went on behind them!
By now, they could easily guess that the tunnel behind them had collapsed.
Such a conclusion was confirmed once a dust cloud covered the entire corridor. They didn't even have to look back in order to figure out what happened.
A moment after, the entire team stood up and they thankfully were all in one piece, so now they could witness what happened.
They were quick to realise that their conclusions were absolutely correct, the tunnel did collapse behind them!
Such a scene made sense, as that structure seemed unstable prior to the collapse. They noticed such a hint while they crossed its staircase.
And now, regardless of the disaster that just happened, they still felt extremely lucky.
Sure they were trapped down here, but if they had lagged behind for half a minute more, their souls would have been crushed out of their bodies!
Steve whipped the dirt off his face, and peeked at the pile of mud and stone that barricaded the end of the tunnel.
Afterwards he recited, "It's like the universe wants us down here. That thing held together until we got here."
"Weird right?" Richard followed along.
For once this revolutionary was cooperative. And quite frankly, he was also happy that he lived to see another day.
Yet before this situation could have been fully comprehended, their attention was captured by something else right after.
As it only took a few seconds for them to realise that something lurked in the weeds in front of them!
Right after, they saw several creatures slithering across this plant-life.
And after a blink of an eye, some meter-long, red shaded bastards headed directly towards the group!
Altima was unsurprisingly the first to capture such a sight, so she stood up right away.
And then she yelled, "Blood worms ahead! Don't let them bite you!"
Everyone willingly heeded such a command, and they only needed a few seconds to back away.
They understood that this fine lady was beyond capable, so they didn't want to get in her way.
The woman in question launched herself towards these worms, and was quick to slice one of their heads off!
But just now the lady noticed that perhaps she had been too bold. As there were about eight of these same worms, and they all charged towards her all at the same time!
Thanks to that matter she had to take a few steps back, just so she could buy herself some time.
Steve stood behind, along with the rest of the group. But he could see that his body-guard was beyond nervous, the lady's spooked body language said a lot.
It felt unfair to let her handle this entire battle alone, so he decided to lend a hand.
He had made such a decision, even though his heart spiked thanks to massive streams of adrenaline and fear.
A second later, Steve pushed his little sister right behind the only revolutionary who survived this trip.
Then he hastily demanded, "Guard my sister with your life, you owe a favour to all of us!"
After that point he didn't want to idly stand by and chatter. The young man bounced towards the battle, and tried to pull out his daggers as fast as he could!
Coincidentally he managed to pull out the same daggers, which he had used to stab master Andonil's shoulders.
They still were coated with blood, but in this case he could reap motivation out of such a feature.
He was scared at the moment, yes. But such bloody daggers reminded the boy, that there truly was an angry lion in his heart.
So he tried to embrace such rage as much as he could, and then he flung one of the daggers directly towards a blood worm!
These odd creatures had gotten too close already, so it was clumsy to waste any more time.
Luckily he managed to land a direct hit!
The sharpened iron dagger sliced the enemy right below the throat!
Afterwards they could see a bunch of crimson red blood, it puked all across this corridor's vegetation!
"Nice shot!" Altima complimented.
She noticed that the young man had joined this bloody battle. And although she had an urge to force this boy to back away, she also understood the severity of this situation.
Some help was good in this case, and that successful attack had given her an idea too.
At first she slid through a worm who had leaped towards her, and then she backed away for a couple more feet.
Her entire face and upper chest was coated with the enemy's dramatically eruptive blood, but such stench did not hold her back one bit.
Instead she embraced the prior idea, and pulled her daggers out of the fur coat she had hidden them in.
And then she took a few steps forward once more, just so she could charge towards a couple of these enemies!
In response they leaped towards the lady, and clapped their tiny-toothed jaws with the crave for blood!
But Altima didn't intend to give them the upper hand in this battle.
Instead she thrusted her hands upwards, and bashed her daggers right through the enemy's bellies!
The fine body-guard only had to pull her weapons back afterwards, in order to split these darned worms in half.
In the meantime, her brave friend had tried to nail another worm against the head.
But he was clumsy enough to trip over a few thick vines, which laid across the corridor.
He kissed the luscious flooring afterwards, and his dagger completely missed the target!
It smashed against some type of big blue leaf, before it fiddled deeper towards vegetation.
So now he was almost entirely unarmed. A few seconds were necessary, if Steve wished to pull out a couple other daggers out of his fur coat.
But in this situation, a few seconds were too much to ask for!
The enemy worm charged towards him at full speed and it wasn't any better on Steve's conscious, when he locked eyes with this same enemy.
A moment later, this blood-sucker leaped forward with an aim to bite through the young man's head!
But just then, something strongly unexpected happened.
A two-foot long sword collided right against this enemy's head!
Steve could see this same piece of metal, reflecting some light before it was entirely covered with blood!
Such a collision had forced the enemy backwards after a heavy thud reverberated. But the damage itself was even more luminous!
