Inside the Olivanders store, Joe and Harry were awkwardly standing there since Harry hasn't pay for his wand yet.
'Can you at least be a more reliable seller instead of wandmakers? You are selling wand after all!' Joe screaming in his mind when seeing Harry turned to Derby at his side. His face suddenly turned weird when looking at Joe.
"I know what you are thinking." Joe sighed, "This is a house-elf. You might be judging me because Derby is wearing ragged clothes, right?" He added again while looking at Harry.
"Ah, No... No... No... I don't mean it that way." Harry quickly denied his thought.
"It's okay. I understand but the situation doesn't allow me to give him clothing. If I do that, it's like I'm setting him free or considered belittling his loyalty to me. Also, he is my only family member. I hope you understand." Joe giggled when looking at Harry's flustered face.
"Derby is happy with Mr. White. Mr. White doesn't treat Derby badly." Derby said in support.
"Are you here to buy some stuff for the school?" Joe tried to change the topic of the conversation.
"Yeah, I'm." Harry answered like an obedient child.
"You want to go together? We still need a fitting robe, gloves, and other things. Of course, if you don't mind." Joe said.
"Sure." Harry happily agreed to have a friend around his age.
"Aaa... Here, Mr. White. Blackthorn wood, with Unicorn core, 12 inches." Olivander presented a wand in front of Joe.
[ Wood: Blackthorn]
[Core: Unicorn Hair]
[Length: 12"]
(Not suitable)
The property of the wand popped up in front of Joe and instantly he shook his head.
Seeing his reaction made Olivander surprised and went to the back again. These processes last for a while before a suitable wand is represented in front of Joe.
[Wood: Cherry]
[Core: Dragon Heartstring]
[Length: 11,5"]
(Suitable)
"Thank you." Joe picked up the wand and the dragon core instantly delivering mana to Joe through the skin of his hand.
"Derby, pay him." Joe waited for Derby to pay Olivander and leave together with Harry.
"Harry, Happy Birthday." A huge size man standing just outside the shop, from the looks of it. Hagrid knew Harry was talking with Joe and decided not to disturb them until he came out.
"Oooh, it's your birthday?" Joe totally forgot about it and turned to Harry with a wide smile. Harry embarrassingly nodded his head.
"Damn, now I feel bad for not giving my friend a gift." Joe laughed before turning to Hagrid.
"Umm... Joe White, Nice to meet you, Hagrid. I heard a lot about you. The key master and gatekeeper of Hogwarts." He introduced himself causing Hagrid's thick beard to trembled.
"I... I thought the White family..." He murmured.
"Nn... I'm the sole survivor just like Harry." Joe stopped him from talking more about his past.
"Right, I'm sorry Harry. I can't give you a gift right now. My idea is actually to buy you a flying broom but we are not allowed to bring one as a first-year." Joe gave out his idea but it was unnecessary.
Harry Potter was already a bit happy to find the same person who suffered the same fate as him.
"It's alright. I'm totally fine." He said with a small smile.
"Then, Let's buy the other necessary stuff!" Joe said to him.
