Chapter 33

Fares entered the room soon after, and as he had expected, Doga's skin was cherry-red, and his breathing slow and deep.

Fares acted as if he was in deep thoughts and even checked his pulse for a few minutes. For someone who does not understand, they would just think he was really into it.

Seeing the determination plastered on Fares' face, Daragma thought, 'This kid is good, he didn't hold a grudge against me. I thought I had to teach him a lesson for him to treat my grandchild.'

Of course, that was just how good Fares was at acting. After a while though, turned to look at Daragma with a sunken face, acting as if he was a doctor delivering bad news.

"I have bad news. I am afraid he doesn't have long." Fares said as he turned around to leave, shocking both Daragma and Healer Raya.

'What the hell is this kid saying? Didn't he tell me he wanted to treat him? Was that all a lie to anger this old-fart?' Healer Raya thought.

Shaking his head to snap out of it, Daragma tugged at Fares' hand, roughly yanking him back.

"What do you mean he doesn't have long? We knew that already, so how are you going to save him?" He said slowly and menacingly, making sure that it got through to Fares.

Fares tugged his hands back from the strong grip of the old man and said fearsomely, "There isn't a way to do so other than using all of my energy to do so."

"Then, go, frigging, do it!" Daragma said anger clear in his eyes. He released his full pressure force on Fares, threatening him. The surrounding atmosphere thickened too much that it felt that there were more than 100 pounds (ca. 45 kilogram) of extra weight on Fares back. On the other hand, Healer Raya looked absolutely fine, in fact, she had a lot more energy to spare.

Fares found it hard to breathe, the old man was in peak Soul Strengthening stage after all. He hardly choked out a few words, "You can kill me now, but your grandson dies with me."

At the mention of his grandson, Daragma retracted his pressure, still looking at Fares with killing intent. 'Screw being a good guy, that kid is the Devil.' He thought.

"Then go and save him.", Daragma said, trying his best not to lash out.

" Nope." Fares replied flatly as he straightened himself up.

Daragma was so mad that veins popped up on his forehead. He looked at Healer Raya and said, "Isn't he your apprentice? Why didn't you teach him some manners first?"

Healer Raya started to get impatient, that old bastard thinks he can just barge in and treat a grand elder as if they worked for him? Who does he think he is?

She released her full energy upon Daragma, which made him flinch and back away. "You don't get to talk to your superiors like that. I could easily kill you and nobody would have a problem with it. After all, who are you in front of the only healer in the village."

Daragma did not dare look her in the eyes, what she said was absolutely correct. Nobody would care for a lowly elder. Many could replace him, however, there were only 5 grand elders in the whole village.

Seeing him back down, Healer Raya turned to Fares and said gently to him, "Hey young man, I, too, would like to see how you can heal him."

"It is not that I don't want to, but using that much energy to treat him, at my current cultivation level, would take a week off of my cultivation base. Nobody wants to have such a setback." Fares said innocently.

The corner Healer Raya's mouth twitched, 'That kid can really spout nonsense. Do you think I haven't noticed how you reached the third stage Soul Strengthening in a few days since I last saw you?' She thought.

She was about to say something when she was suddenly cut off, by Daragma, "Fine what is it that you want? Do you want cultivation material? I'll give you the Begarra meat. Do you want money? Fame? I'll give them to you, I'll even give you our family's secret technique. Just save him."

'Hmph, just wait for it, kid. I will definitely kill you one day.' Daragma thought.

Fares was at a loss for words. Among all Fares' predictions of how this would go, this had never even crossed his mind. He underestimated the love this grandfather had for his grandchild, but it was all the better.

"Hmm, now that is interesting." He said out loud, making sure Daragma heard.

This gave hope to Daragma, as he continued, "Yes yes absolutely anything you ask for I can get it for you. What is it that you want?"

"Hmmm, I want a woman." Fares stated bluntly, leaving them speechless. By now the old Healer had understood Fares' intentions, she was also a grand elder and knew what went on around the village.

"That's it? Why didn't you say so sooner? I'll get you 5, no 10 of the most beautiful women in the village. Just go on and heal him." Daragma said happily as he patted Fares' shoulder.

Healer Raya looked at him disgustingly, this old fart wanted to use a woman as a bargaining chip? Who does he think he is?

Fares raised his index finger and moved it from side to side, saying, "No, I do not want any woman."

Daragma stiffened and was confused, was this kid playing games with him? A moment he wants something and the next he changes his mind?

However, Fares just continued, "I want that pretty woman you came in with."

Daragma took a while to remember that he told Zena to follow him. But how could he let his son's wife go just like that? They have not even slept together yet.

After a few more moments of thought, 'Nah, it doesn't matter, there will always be other women.'

"I accept. But you have to heal him first." He said.

Fares just nodded his head and turned to look at Doga, who was hardly breathing. He was not afraid that he would go back on his word, firstly because he really would not care about women, and secondly because Healer Raya, a grand elder, was there as a witness.

So all he had to do now, was to treat this case of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Placing a hand over Doga's chest, and the other over his mouth covering it, Fares infused energy into the hand over the huge brick-like chest. When the energy entered Doga's body, his breathing started to increase rapidly as his chest went up and down.

With his other hand, Fares focused hard as he used energy trying to separate the air particles from one another. Until finally, he was left with only pure oxygen.

He then forced the oxygen into the hyperventilating Doga's body. After a while more of this, Fares started to look paler by the second, he knew that trying to separate something as air needed loads of energy, even before he came here. That was why he insisted on going on a hunt, to get more meat for cultivation. Who knew he had better ways to do so.

The treatment went on for a while longer until Doga's Cherry-red colour returned to normal. Luckily for Fares, he had gained two more levels, or he would not have pulled this off.

Fares finally fell to the ground with sweat dripping down his forehead.

"How did it go? Why isn't he waking up?" Daragma asked Fares anxiously.

"Don't worry, he will be fine now. He just needs some more rest. Speaking of rest, I need it too, so I am going to head out with my prize now." Fares said as he got up and wobbled towards the door.

Daragma was about to tell Fares to stop right there and that their deal was off when he felt a heavy pressure weighing him down. On the side, Healer Raya looked at him menacingly, she lived for too long to understand what people like him want.

He did not dare to face her wraith. He lived by the code of taking from those who cannot, and bow to those who can. So he just sucked it up and sat on a stone chair near his grandson.

Healer Raya gave another quick check-up on Doga and was amazed that it actually worked. She thought that Fares would do something to him, just to get back at him. But he just really did treat him.

She assured Daragma that his grandson will be alright before taking off after Fares. However, he had already left, she wanted to go and get him, but when she remembered his tired face she brushed it off for a later time.

On the way back, Zena explained what had transpired and the slight changes she made to the plan for Mona to stop her whining.

Fares went into deep thought, what Zena thought was a 'slight change' could actually complicate things. Demerio was even worse than Daragma in the sense that he was merciless and did not care about any laws. Fares understood his personality well when he tried to break down the door to Zena's house in broad daylight, or in this case, in broad stone light.

Although Zena was happily chatting away, she did not fail to notice the change in Fares, however, she decided to talk to him later about it when Mona was not around. Thinking of staying in a room with only the both of them made her blush.

"Sister Zena, what's the matter? Are you sick?" Mona said innocently.

"Oh, n-nothing." She said, brushing it off as she continued explaining the events.
