Two Fathers

~ This is kind of a chapter to give more character to two important people to Renaldo's life. His father, who is alarmed by the distance between him and his son, and his grandfather, who supported his endeavors all the way. Please read this as the preparation arc is done! ~

Mauricio's POV

1884, in a study that looks like a storm went through it, with books scattered around the table and a few maps that contain military routes, Renaldo's father is drinking and contemplating about the latest happenings with his son. He thought;

18 years, my son is now an adult for two years already yet he still doesn't confide me with the things that he busies himself with. Although honestly, it might be because of my insistence of him going to the army. He's more comfortable talking with my father-in-law about the stuff that he wants. To be honest, I'm really jealous of their bond as I've never connected with my son that much. I don't know how to handle him, when he was a kid, he was too mature for his age and now that he's an adult, he makes better decisions than I do. I even think that my son is currently older than I am! Ridiculous right? But it has always been the situation around here for 18 years, he has always solved a lot of my problems, from improving the hacienda to have a better agricultural system, to developing various money-making methods for our family, he's also a really great military guy, much greater than me who has actually served Spain as an auxilliary soldier (I can't become a regular soldier because I'm half filipino) I fought two wars for Spain yet my son is better than me even in managing our own soldiers, he even made two mercenary groups! That shocked me alot because I was oblivious at first! I didn't think that he can mold those orphans into such a disciplined war machine! I think they're even better than the Spanish army! But that's really ridiculous given his age! I tried talking to him about this though, like where does he get his knowledge and how does he think about innovative things to handle our lands. He told me that those books helped him with his stuff, and gave him inspiration to make newer versions of them and I see some of them there. Honestly, I think my son is really better suited for these kinds of things so I relented on sending him to Spain and become an auxilliary soldier like myself. It's been his dream to inherit hid grandfather's business since he was a child, so I'm thinking of just supporting him in what he does.

Enrico's POV

1884

In a grandiose room full of catholic saints, golden accessories and various other things that screams christianity, an old man is lying in a sick bed, waiting for his timely death at the age of 94, he was happy and also a bit remorseful that he doesn't have the chance to witness his grandson's future undertakings. He is confident about his grandson's plans as he thinks that his grandson is better than he is in most aspects of life, be it in the business field that he takes his pride in or the various other fields that he is involved in.

"The only regret that I think of right now is that I'm too powerless to move this goddamn bell and call for my maid and to tell her that I'm going to die now, I wanna see both my grandson and my daughter but I guess this is it huh? hahah-cough!* The old man almost choked on his own saliva building up in his mouth, he is very lively for a dying person.

He thought about he various things that his grandson has achieved throughout the years, from building various businesses that helped his guild financially, to other military advancements that are way beyond the current time. These military technologies are what makes the old man confident about his grandson's future plans, the only thing that is baffling him is that why does his grandson still hold back and is not moving towards his goals, those are the only things that are baffling him but he thought that maybe God has ordered his grandson to bide his time. He doesn't know if it's because he's dying or if it's true but he often thinks about God these days, like he is calling for him, like he is longing for the return of one of his sons. This thoughts made Enrico let go of his remaining worries in this world.

As he simply closed his eyes, and rested his weary shoulders, his grandson will inherit his will and his properties.

As his life fades away, a budding seed of chaos will take place in his wake.
