WONDERING WHAT NEXT

Sometimes we wish we could know everything, what is ahead of us or what to do next but sometimes not knowing is good. Because the desire to uncover the unknown could be a great motivation to push us into doing what we need to do to get where we need to be.

Now that I've found out how to activate and control my powers, the big question that continuously popped into my head was; What's next? I knew that the superpowers have been bestowed upon me for a reason, yet I began to doubt myself more and more each day. Anyway, I had no clue as to what's next, so I continued living my normal life of studying medicine and training with my classmates. Although they knew they were no match for me. How I became the most powerful combatant in the Temple was a mystery to everyone, myself included and that only my Dad and the Monks in Heaven had the answer to.

One day, I returned from the stream with my peers. Master Longwei called out, so I immediately went to meet him in his room. I entered the room, only to find him imbibing wine from a small cup. "You called me, Master!" I asked. He dropped his cup of wine, then rose from his sitting position, walking towards me. "Yes," he replied. "I have something to tell you," he said. He sat in another seat across from me. "Sit here." he commanded, pushing an empty seat towards my direction. I sat next to him, waiting to hear what he had to say. Somehow, I had a feeling that he wanted to discuss about my superpowers, which was something I thought we've already established. It was the same crap, different day. I had homework and other assignments to complete. The last thing I needed was another chat about my superpowers.

I was right once again. My intuition never lies.

"Lui, you have been blessed with great powers." he began, slowly nodding his head. "But with great power comes great responsibility. It is now your duty to defend and protect the weak. Stand up for those who can't fight for themselves," he affirmed. He stood up, pacing around the room, then he added, "It's a huge obligation, but I have no doubt that you'll do great. You're a good boy, Lui. Let the goodness in your heart be your guide."

"Yes, Master." I replied, concurring. He sat next to me and declared, "I know you're strong, but you're only a young boy. With powers like yours, you could attract danger to yourself. I want you to keep your powers a secret, don't use it and don't tell anyone about it; at least until you're fully ready to take up the responsibility that comes with your power," he advised. Master Longwei had a point. If anyone else were to find out about my superpowers, I could stand the chance of attracting more enemies, making it harder for me to live a happy, normal life. People would want to use me for their selfish gain and that was a risk that I refused to accept. So, I promised Master Longwei that I'd keep quiet about my powers.

I decided that I'd cease using my powers and Master Longwei never asked me to partake in anymore fighting exercises again, which was fine with me because I didn't want to take any chances on hurting anyone else aside Chung Lee and Master Longwei. One more butt-kicking and I could get expelled from the Temple. Instead of partaking in fighting exercises, I received two other titles: the nurse and trainer. As a guide, I teach real fighters how to move this way, kick and hit that way. I was happy that everything worked out for the best, at least for the time being, anyway.
