chapter 4: Mystical Rose

JULIET'S POINT OF VIEW

As Travis left our house, I immediately turned to my mother.

"Mother, why did you told Travis to come here anytime?" I asked in confusion as she began walking towards the kitchen.

"Why not?" Julia asked then I sighed and started walking behind her.

"No offense, it was very unusual of you to say those words to a boy like him." I replied.

"Travis is a very nice guy and also polite, Juliet. I think you two would be a good match." She said then she winked at me.

"Mother, I know he is very nice and polite, but why out of all boys, why him?" I asked as I sat down.

"What do you mean, 'why out of all boys, why him'?" She asked in confusion.

"Remember my old friend, Ryan? You told me after he left the house that you don't like him and I shouldn't be going out with guys and when you said guys, you meant all guys." I said.

"Well, times change. Besides, you two seemed getting along together." She said as she smirked then she sat down as I grabbed plate and a utensil.

"Mother, what I know for now is we are just friends. But, it was weird because he asked me minutes before you came to my room, if the meeting tomorrow will be a date." I said as I sliced 1/8 of the pie.

"Well? What did you replied?" She asked as I started eating the pie.

"I didn't had the chance to answer, besides, if I am going to be honest, I like someone else." I replied then she gasped.

"I, for sure, know that you will like him sooner." She said as she started eating a 1/8 slice of the pie.

I sighed then the both of us ate the pie Travis gave to us.

Next day during lunchtime

I finished my lunch in the cafeteria then I started walking around the campus, thinking of what might happen later with me and Travis. Because I am completely zoned out, I bumped into a guy who was reading a book then the both of us fell down to the floor.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry. I was completely zoned ou-" I said then we both looked up at each other.

It is Romeo, the guy I like ever since, but who has no idea I like him. His hair is messy, and he is wearing a white polo shirt with dark brown slacks.

"No, my apologies, Juliet. I should've stop my habit, reading a book while walking." Romeo chuckled as we both stood up then I chuckled back.

"Do you have any chance on seeing Travis around?" He asked then I looked around.

"Uh no, I haven't." I replied.

"No worries, Juliet. I'll look for him." He said then he started walking.

"By the way, what book are you reading?" I asked as I stopped him from walking.

"Um, it's called Mystical Rose, one of my favorite books of all time. I've read this book for the sixth time already." He said as he showed me the book.

"I think I've read that book before, how many book series did this book have? " I asked.

"3 exactly." He replied as he smiled.

"Do you have extra copies of each book by any chance?" I asked as I frowned.

"No, I only had one copy for each book ever since." He replied then I sighed.

"But, you can borrow mine if you want to." He said then I smiled.

"You must be kidding." I said as I smiled back.

"No, I'm not." He chuckled.

"Oh by the way, is it okay for you that we will read the first parts of the book together later after school?" He asked then my eyes are wide open.

Romeo, as in, Romeo McAdams, asked me on a da- no what am I even thinking?

"Sure! I'm free later after school." I said.

"Alright then, see you later Juliet!" He said as he smiled then I waved at him and we both went to separate ways.

Thirty minutes later, I walked to my next class, then a guy suddenly showed up out of nowhere.

"Good noon, Juliet!" Travis greeted me as the both of us walked.

"Oh, hi Travis! I didn't noticed you there." I nervously chuckled then he chuckled as well.

"Don't forget that we will meet each other later after school for our science project at my bakery." He said then my eyes opened wide.

Oh my God, I completely forgot about our meeting about the project when Romeo asked me to meet him after school as well for the book reading in the library. I even remembered that I must be at my mother's office by then.

"Uh Travis, can we like, change our schedule for a bit?" I nervously asked.

"What do you mean?" He asked as he frowned.

"I remembered that I have plans after school, with my friend." I panickedly said as I stuttered.

"With who?" He asked then I panicked so I grabbed a random person as she was walking in the hallways.

"With her!" I said as the girl was confused.

"Her name is Marie." I nervously said as I stuttered and Travis glared at us.

"That's my second name but ok-" The girl I grabbed said then I cutted her off.

"So I apologize that we won't be meeting this afternoon, but we could meet tomorrow?" I asked then he sighed.

"Juliet, is this about what happened yesterday?" Travis asked then I panicked and didn't know what to say.

Luckily, the bell rang which saved me from Travis' question.

"Oh, there's the bell! I gotta go to class." I nervously said then I immediately went to class as I left the girl and Travis outside the room.

I sighed as I sat down. I've never felt that panicked before, I even lied infront of Travis.

Later that day

I left the room as I started walking towards the library.

"Hi, aren't you the girl who dragged me several hours ago?" A girl asked as I turned at her.

"Oh hello, and yes that was me. I apologize for what happened earlier. I was just panicking and had no choice but to make an excuse-" I explained then she cutted me off.

"You know what, I was supposed to be mad at you, but you seem really worried and all, which I completely understand." She chuckled.

"Oh, thank you." I chuckled as well.

"My name is Lauren, by the way." She said as she handed out her hand.

"Nice to meet you, Lauren, I'm Juliet." I said as I smiled and handed out my hand as well then we shaked our hands and released.

"Juliet, as in, Juliet in the William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet?" Lauren exclaimed.

"I haven't heard of that, but I'm pretty sure we have the same exact spelling of our names." I chuckled.

"No way, that is one of the most popular historical plays ever!" Lauren said.

"To be honest, I am not really a fan of those stuffs." I said then she pouted.

"It's okay, but luckily I know someone named Juliet who is basically has the same name from one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite plays ever!" She exclaimed then we both chuckled.

"If you don't mind me asking, why did you dragged me out of nowhere earlier?" She asked as she frowned.

"Well, you see, I thought that I would make an excuse infront of my partner for our Science project, so that I can spend sometime with the person I like." I said as I nervously smiled.

"I'm pretty sure my brother won't be happy about it when he knows the truth." She sighed.

"Yes he- wait, what do you mean brother?" I asked as my eyes are wide open.

"Your partner for our Science project thing is my brother Travis." She replied as I gasped.

"Oh no no no, this is bad. Why didn't you tell me in the first place?" I asked as I panicked.

"I'm sorry, I thought you knew that she has a sister." She said.

"I barely know that man!" I replied as I continued to panicked.

"Stop panicking, don't worry I won't tell him the truth." She said as she calmed me down.

"Wait really? That's gr-" I exclaimed as she cutted me off.

"In one condition." She said then I pouted.

"You will be my friend starting today." She said then I nodded.

"Sure! But, what does that have to do with the truth?" I asked.

"So that the next time you or I meet up with Travis, we will say the exact same thing. Since we are already friends, we will tell Travis that we started hanging out like what friends usually do." She explained.

"You have a great mindset, I love it." I chuckled.

"Well what can I say? I am the brain of our family." She said then the both of us laughed.

"Alright, so it's settled. By the way, I gotta go I might be late already." I chuckled as I slowly walked away.

"Okay then, see you tomorrow Juliet!" Lauren said as she smiled and waved at me.

"Likewise, Lauren!" I said then we both went to separate ways.
