Chapter 11

Lucinda's POV

"Wow!" exclaimed a bunch of children as we walked into the backyard.

Wow indeed!

They had really outdone themselves by turning a suburban backyard into a winter wonderland. Fake snow littered the grass while a fog machine gave it a nice misty atmosphere.

Mini-round tables where placed all around the yard with white tablecloths and blue decorations placed at the top. Party packs were placed in front of each chair and on a pedestal was a three tier royal blue cake with silver flowers adorning the top.

What caught my attention was the mini-stage in the middle of the whole thing with similar decorations but with a big sign that read 'PRINCESSES' and three chairs up at the table.

Even though it was a winter wonderland party... There was still the pool glimmering under the sunshine adorned with little snowflaked all around.

Louisa ran towards me and Lynn with excitement written all over her face.

"Lucy, you look amazing! Like a real life princess!" she exclaimed.

She was dressed in a turquoise shimmery princess dress with tiny snowflakes on the skirt. She also had a tiara on her head.

"You look so beautiful... Bet you'll be attracting all the boy's attention today" I teased.

She blushed and giggled.

"No boy is coming near my sister anytime soon" said Diego emerging from the house with Mathias following closely behind him.

Louisa ran to them to greet them and left me with Lynn looking excitedly at everything.

"Alright everyone! The party is about to begin. Could all the princesses go to their table over there and everyone else be seated on the remaining tables." Tia said holding a clip board in her hand.

All the children began to sit on in individual groups at each table while I dragged a very reluctant Lynn to our table.

We were shortly joined at the table by Louisa and I helped her on the chair in the middle as Lynn and I on either side of her.

"Okay everyone! Welcome to the birthday party of Louisa Valdez. We are going to have a short program as I can imagine all of you want to go play right now" said Tia and all of the children screamed in agreement.

"So first we are going to sing Louisa a happy birthday then she's going to make a little speech for us all." Tia said and gestured for all of us to sing.

After our short song and a very flustered speech by Louisa thanking everyone for coming Tia announced all of the kids to change and head to the pool to have some fun before lunch time.

While all of the children screamed and jumped in the pool, splashing and having general fun Tia put Lynn on Lifeguard duty while I was sent to help in the kitchen.

Diego's dad, John, was at the grill on the porch making some beef patties and sausages. I slipped on an apron and started cutting the buns. While I worked I hummed a song.

"Måneskin?" said a voice and I jumped in surprise.

Amongst listening to the banter outside I didn't notice someone come in the kitchen. Chase stood there leaning against the door frame. He was wearing denim jeans a navy blue shirt and some sneakers.

"Sorry, Didn't mean to scare you" he chuckled.

"Yes" I said.

"What?" he asked confused.

"Måneskin" I said. He formed a 'O' with his lips.

"You look amazing by the way" he said coming closer and leaning against the table.

I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and smiled.

"Thank you. I didn't take you for the type to go to kids birthday party"

"Well, who doesn't enjoy free cake and I heard that you'd be here"

"I am delighted to hear that you enjoy my company"

"Who wouldn't"

"A bunch of hungry children"

We both turned our head and looked at Tia staring at us from the kitchen door.

"Well don't just stand there! Hungry children await!" she gestured with frantically with her hands and we both laughed and helped her carry everything outside.

They all ran to us in anticipation and they stood in a wobbly line choosing between a hotdog or burger. Once they were all given something to eat and drink and were chatting away with their friends while munching on food the adults grabbed some food and huddled in their own group.

After I made sure everyone got something to eat I grabbed a plate myself and stood there debating on what to eat.

"If you keep looking at it, it might freeze under your ice cold stare" said a voice behind me. I turned to our unexpected guest as he took a plate from the table.

"Donavan... So nice to see you again" I said sarcastically.

"Careful, you almost sounded like you care" he chuckled and grabbed a hotdog. I rolled my eyes.

I got myself a burger and a glass of cranberry juice and went to stand by Diego, Mathias, Chase and Lynn but she immediately abandoned us at the sight of her boyfriend to welcome him here.

"Never thought he'd actually show" said Chase.

"Why's that?" I asked curiously.

"Princess Lynn is in winter wonderland and is looking for her prince charming" Diego said.

I turned and looked at their exchange while Lynn tried putting her tiara on Donavan's head and him awkwardly declining her advances.

I giggled at how funny it looked and turned my attention back to my group. The rest of the day we chatted away mindlessly, making the occasional joke and constantly checking on the kid's safety.

Finally came the time to cut the cake and Chase was the most exciting out of all of us, even the birthday girl herself. After much enjoyed cake and final celebrations the kid's parents began to arrive and collected their children.

I stayed behind to help the clean up and was driven home, in my car, by Chase after I complained about my sore feet from wearing heels the whole day.

Once out of the gorgeous dress I got into my pajamas and retired to the land of dreams.
