Lucinda's POV
"What do you think of this one?" Lynn asked as she twirled with a dress pressed to her body.
I grimaced.
"It's pink" I said.
She huffed and put it down, then picked up another one.
"This one?" she asked showing it off.
"Too sparkly" I said and she groaned and picked up a yellow dress with ruffles on the sleeves and skirt.
I looked at it with wide eyes.
"It's supposed to be a winter wonderland and I would never wear anything with ruffles" I said.
"Yeah... It is a bad one" she said and continued her search throughout the boutique.
I had brought Lynn along with me to find a dress for Louisa's birthday party. I'm not a girly girl so I figured I needed some guidance.
After I had told Lynn about being a princess she jumped at the opportunity to pamper me and find the most princessy thing out there for me.
She claimed my sense of style was 'Tomboy with a hint of chic' but not enough knowledge to select a dress for an 10 years old's birthday party.
I idley followed her around the store while she gazed at everything with a child like wonder. By some miracle had convinced Diego to have two princesses at Louisa's party. Not that Louisa would disagree, the more the better.
"Cece! Come look!" she screamed from a specific section in the store attracting the attention of everyone there.
I walked to her to see what she was so excited about to see her standing next to a isle filled with every kind of blue dresses.
"Winter wonderland or what?!" she said with excitement.
I chuckled at her enthusiasm and began to look through the dresses.
"So we go dark blue of light?" she asked.
"Definitely dark" I said.
"Cobalt, admiral or navy?" she asked.
"Royal" I said.
"To up our princess game... I got you" she nodded and I chuckled.
"What do you think of this?" she asked and held up a royal blue floor length dress with a sweetheart neckline which was sparkly on the top half and had a flowy skirt with a silver belt at the waist.
"It's perfect for you" I said.
"I know right... I'm getting it." she said.
I continued my search and saw a beautiful royal blue floor length dress with tank top straps and a deep v-neckline. It had a bejeweled silver flower on the side and a flowy skirt.
"Lynn... I think I found mine." I said taking it off the rack.
"Let me see... OMG! It's so you" she said.
I smiled and we took our dresses to go get checked out and we walked out of the boutique with smiles on our faces.
"We're gonna get ready together right?" she asked.
"Of course... See you tomorrow at 7:00" I said and we parted ways.
~
The next morning, bright and early but 10 minutes was Brendaline with eagerness etched onto her face.
After a much needed cup of coffee and brief conversation we got began to get ready. Lynn insisted that we start with our hair as it would take some time.
"So... How was your date?" she asked.
I was beginning to wonder when she would ask about that.
"How did you know it?" I mused.
"I gave Chase your address... Now quit stalling and tell me!" she begged.
"Well as you know he arrived here and asked me if I was busy... You should seen how nervous he was. All fidgety and rambling" I said.
"Yeah he tends to do that when he's nervous" Lynn said.
"Well... Man's confidence went up a whole new level after I said yes" I said.
"You and I are still talking about the same person right?" she asked shocked.
"I was surprised too. I asked him where we were going and he said it was a surprise." I said.
"Sounds romantic..." she said.
"Mmm.... It was. After talking about our love for the same music we came to a clearing in the forest and wow!" I said.
"What did it look like" she asked.
"Well it was decorated with all kinds of fairy lights and there was this romantic picnic waiting for us" I said reminiscing last night.
"While you were enjoying a romantic night underthe stars I was trying to get Donavan to try some sushi... I swear he's a baby sometimes" she said finally finished curling my hair.
Donavan.
I haven't seen or heard from him since the double date.
"I suppose raw fish isn't for everyone" I said.
"Don't tell me you support him" she accused.
"I just can't bear the thought of having to stomach raw fish. I can barely eat a medium-rare steak" I said.
"I swear... A bunch of babies" she exasperated.
After our odd conversation about whether sushi is an aquired taste or not we had finished our makeup and got into our dresses.
Lynn suggested that we put on stilettos to accompany the look but I refused to put my feet under that much torture.
I opted for platform heels instead and we were only running late by 20 minutes. After I finally convinced Lynn that she looked good and to get out of the house we arrived at the party.
We could hear joyful banter from the closed from door and we rang the doorbell. We were greeted by Tia's at the door who complemented us on our appearance and ushered us to a room.
There we were given tiaras and told to wait for our grand entrance.
"I'm so nervous" Lynn said shaking off some nerves.
"It's a party for a ten year old's" I stated.
"Still... I've never been a princess before" she said excitedly.
"Really... Not even for Halloween?" I asked.
She shook her head. Well that's surprising... Me being the princess of the underworld and all felt this was just like another state gathering... Just with smaller subjects.
Tia came into the room and told us it was time. With one last breath we walked out of the room and into the backyard full of tiny subjects.
