Chapter 41
Lucinda's POV
I peeled my eyes open much to my reluctance. I felt extremely tired for some reason and snuggling back into my pillow sounded like the perfect way to spend my day... So I followed my instinct and did that.
The shrilling of my phone on my nightstand cause me to groan and throw my phone of the floor. It's stopped but only started again after a few seconds. With the largest scowl on my face I picked it up and answered the phone.
"Morning sunsh- woah... Who pissed in your cereal?"
I groaned and got out of bed to got to the bathroom to prepare for my day.
"Well Dee... It's obviously the person who disturbed me from my slumber..."
I propped my phone up on the stand and took my toothbrush and added some toothpaste to it then began brushing my teeth.
"Oh... I forgot you and manual labor aren't friends. That shift at Tia's got you wiped huh?"
"Mmhmm..."
I mumbled while brushing my teeth. I'm honestly in no mood to do anything today. I kinda just wanna curl up on the couch and watch so K-drama or something.
"Well I just wanted to the first one to wish you a happy birthday today as your best friend I believe the honor is reserved for me"
I rolled my eyes but thanked him for birthday wish. I said goodbye to him because I had to shower and he said Lynn and Lisa will be here in a few to get ready with me for the picnic.
I don't get why people celebrate their birthdays. I mean you were born... Big whoop... So did billions of other people around the world so you aren't special.
I especially hate my birthday because I'm living this miserable life because I just had to be born. If I never existed in the first place I wouldn't be stuck in this mess.
After my impromptu shower I heard people in my house. The voices were feminine so I assumed it was Lynn and Lisa. I haven't spoken to Lynn since the whole incident with the T-shirt at Donavan's penthouse.
Acting like I've done nothing wrong... Cause I haven't I walked into the living confidently where I found them musings over a sleeping Evgeny.
Once they saw me they did a small squeal which freaked Evgeny and he ran out the room and we all laughed.
"Happy birthday!"
The both embraced me in a three people hug while jumping up and down slightly. At least if I couldn't be happy today the least I could do is be happy for the others.
"Girl I haven't seen you in so long!"
"Yeah... I've been avoiding you incase you spoiled that book for me but it's all good now cause I'm finished with it"
She rolled her eyes at me for my weak excuse but it's not like it's all my fault that I haven't seen her. Ever since she started dating Vic she's been a pretty busy woman.
"That 26 year old glow looks amazing on you..."
"Thanks Lynn..."
I could feel a slight bit of tension between me and her but she wasn't making it very known. Our little tense moment way interrupt by Lisa saying that we needed to get ready for picnic which we were apparently running late for.
Me not particularly sure what exactly to wear let the girls pick out my outfit for today. It's was a little bit cold today so since my birthday is at the end of winter. Lately the weather has been having mood swings and being hot on some days while others were freezing cold.
They picked out a white long-sleeved skin-tight turtleneck, a black leather bodycon dress that hugged my figure and accentuated my cures that ended just mid-thigh and a pair of black knee-length high heel boots.
I wonder why they opted to have a picnic today rather that just stay inside but I wasn't about to ruin their plans. My hair was curled and left loose because and I quote 'You look sexy when your hair is untied'.
Lisa wore a pair of black leather pants and a fluffy white turtleneck sweater with a lace shawl on her neck. She wore black ankle boots with a golden zip. She tied the took half of her hair into a messy bun and let the rest of her hair flow freely.
Lynn wore white slightly-ripped jeans and a skin-tight black crop top with a black jacket that had white camp-prints on it and a pair of black red-bottom stilettos. She has her hair tied in a loose low bun with a couple of strands to frame her face.
Me and Lisa opted for a light make up look but Lynn insisted that she needed a full face of make up. While we waited for her to finish deciding to bring some stove-top hot chocolate to the picnic. I took out my biggest pot and filled it with milk.
Me and Lisa chatted about menial things while I waited for the milk to boil. After it started boiling I added some sweetened cocoa powder and shave chocolate. After it melted completely I added some vanilla extract and fresh cream. After letting it boil I threw in some marshmallows to let it absorb the flavor of the marshmallows.
After letting it boil some more I strained it and put it into a flask for the picnic. I took the basket I had and put the flask, a few polystyrene cups, the cookies Dami begged me not to forget and some fruits.
Lisa checked on whether Lynn was done and I placed the stuff the car. Once I returned into the house everyone was ready and done. They went into the car and I quickly went to grab a jacket incase the weather decided to have another mood swing.
With everything packed I left the house and locked my door. I walked all the way to the passenger seat apparently the birthday girl should get a driver on her birthday.
Once Lisa started the car we were on our way to the park.

FULL DISCLOSURE... WHEN I FIRST WROTE THIS STORY I DIDN'T INTEND FOR ALL OF THIER NICKNAMES TO START WITH A 'L'. I LITERALLY ONLY NOTICED LATER IN THE STORY THAT ALL OF THIER NICKNAMES START WITH A 'L' 😹.
