Chapter 42
Lucinda's POV
To say these people outdid themselves was an understatement. The park had a homey yet classy vibe to it and it's seemed as though they sticked to my favorite color, black, as the theme.
There were lanterns hung on the tree and the center piece of the tables which had a intricate 'L' designed in a shimmering cursive writing. The table clothed were white with with black lace decorating the tables to give it a feeling of finesse. The chairs were decorated in a similar fashion.
Glasses and plates along with utensils adorned the the top of the tables. Next to the tree was a blanket filled with colorfully wrapped boxes and gift bags with a sign nailed on a tree that read 'Gifts here'.
Some few feet away was the grill and a table filled with drinks and snacks for the guests. After taking the basket out the car I put the stuff I brought with me on the table but was quickly intercepted by Tia who told me that I shouldn't work on my birthday.
"Tia... I swear just putting some snacks on a table isn't going to exhaust me...".
Tia was a very headstrong woman with the stubbornness of a Mexican bull. Me trying to convince her of something will be like telling a cow to go through the eye of a needle.... Only after you teach the cow to understand English.
"No sweetheart... Go socialize with your friends... Consider this repayment for the shift yesterday."
I smiled.
Goodness I love this woman and her good manipulation skills.
"Where is Diego?"
I noticed that his usual bubbly presence isn't at my party. And I knew he wasn't with Mathias because I saw him having a conversation with Vic a little earlier.
"He went over to your place to take Evgeny and leave him with Lou and her cousins who are visiting and staying with the babysitter so he's going to a little late."
I'm glad they thought of a plan for Evgeny since I was just about to call Lucian and ask him to cat sit for me. I began to look around in hopes of finding someone even if I would most likely not find him.
"Okay Tia... Did Johnny come with you?"
"Oh yeah... He's been dying to see you. He's over there by the grill with Donavan and Chase."
I nodded and walked over to the man who's been like a father to me every since I relocated here. If I didn't have Tia and Johnny as parental figures I honestly don't know where I would have been.
"Johnny!"
"My darling daughter... The most happiest of birthdays to you."
I embraced him in a hug. It's been so long since I last saw Dee, Dami and Lou's dad who apparently also insists that he's my father too. Everytime people ask him if he has kids he always answers with 'Yes two wonderful daughters and twins sons'.
"I thought you wouldn't be able to come today... You know with work and all..."
"I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world and you look positively radiant."
"Thank you and you don't look a day over 35..."
"You flatter me my sweetheart but if you'll excuse me I see my wife calling me over and look on her face says I did something wrong so..."
I laughed lightly as he scurried over to a slightly fuming Tia. I turned around and walked over to Donavan and Chase. I gave Donavan a hug which lingered for a few seconds longer than a normal friendly hug but I didn't mind and he whispered a happy birthday in my ear.
A shiver ran down my spine when I felt his hot breath against my ear. I found my brain going a little numb before regaining my thoughts and pulling away before it seemed a little too suspicious.
I turned to Chase to greet him when he slammed his lips onto mine and held my waist firmly against him. The kiss was deep and possessive... Like he was trying to claim me as his own but before things could escalate Dami walked into the scene as always screaming something about his innocent eyes.
Please... His eyes are far from innocent from the stories I've heard. Ever since he became half-demon he's been a little... Okay maybe not a little but very adventurous.
Chase pulled me into a hug and chuckled into my neck and mumbled a 'happy birthday' which send sparks throughout my body which caused my core to throb and my knees buckled slightly.
What's wrong with me today?!
After my intermission with the boys I was whisked away from Chase's reluctant arms to sitting down to start the party. Music was put on which settled a nice vibe amongst everyone.
The boys began to grill the meat for lunch while the girls, Dee and I sat at a table drinking and munching on snacks. What I didn't expect to happen was Lucian who waltzed in on the premises like he own the fucking place.
It's like I could feel everyone's eyes turn to look at him and when I felt a slight nudge in my side I turned to look at Lisa, Lynn and Dee who were practically drooling over him.
"Who's that?"
"He looks like he just walked out of Calvin Klein catalogue..."
Other then the others I was purely horrified. What the hell is Lucian doing here? He walked up to me, calm as day and gave me a hug and kissed me on the cheek.
Everyone at my table squealed but I was too surprised to comprehend what was going on. Suddenly I felt Lucian lean into my ear.
"Smile princess... You look absolutely ravishing in that dress. I love the way it defines your goddess like curves... Oh and happy birthday."
I could feel the blush rushing up to my cheeks and a small throb develope in my groin. Am I just horny today or are these boys high on something?
After my short little encounter he walked to the grill to stand with the boys. I turned back to my little group and they looked at me with curious looks on their faces.
"Girl... I didn't know you knew such hot people... Who is that?"
"That is Lucian..."
"Even his name is sexy."
They all hummed in agreement. I groaned at their sudden interest in Lucian. The last thing I wanted them to do was ask about him.
"How do you guys know each other?"
"He's my guardians son..."
"Does Papa Morningstar look as hot as his spawn cause girl I'm simping"
"Can we stop talking about Lucian."
"And did you hear his British accent?"
"Man's already got me on my knees begging for more..."
"Lisa! And don't you guys have boyfriends?!"
"Minor inconveniences..."
I legit deadpanned after that comment and after a few more words exchanged about Lucian and his 'Adonis' like body Diego finally changed the subject.
"Okay but honest opinion though... Do you prefer the toilet paper over or under?"
"Obviously over... Under is for freaks who put milk before the cereal and sleep with socks on."
"Of course you would say that Lucy... What's with your prejudice against me and sleep with socks on?"
"It's fucking weird Dee... Like the texture of the socks rubbing against the blanket gives me goosebumps."
"Sorry Dee, but I kinda agree with Lucy on this one. The whole socks and sleeping thing is weird."
"Not you too Lisa... Lynn please tell me you agree with me."
We all turned to look at Lynn to see what her answer would be but she seemed preoccupied with something else... Specifically someone else.
"Hello... Earth to Brendaline..."
"Huh... Oh yeah. Totally agree with you."
Dee looked at me with a raised brow and I just shrugged. We all continued our conversation completely forgetting her weird behavior.
After an hour or two the boys said the meat was all ready and we all sat down to have lunch. We all drank various alcohol and shared jokes while stuffing our faces with some barbecue.
After our delicious lunch the wind began to pick up and dark clouds filled the sky at an alarming rate. Most of the decorations were flying around. We all decided that is was best to move every inside as the rain could start at any moment.
Tia and Johnny said they'd take all the decorations to their house and we can go and enjoy the rest of our evening. Donavan suggested that we go to his place since it's near a liquor store and Johnny agreed to drop off my presents at my place after Dee gave him the spare key.
Once everything was packed up and ready to leave the rain began to pour, and hard. We all scurried to our cars to try not to get drenched.
After we were all inside the cars we drove off to Donavan's penthouse.
