Chapter 55

Lucinda's POV

As I walked into the house I could feel the Tears of a Poltergeist taking over me. There was a light warm buzz going through my body and I felt slightly tipsy. I wasn't particularly drunk yet but this felt nice.

After everything was moved to the porch where a small fire was going on in the middle of the yard with chairs surrounding it. Dinner was served and we all ate while sharing jokes and laughing about.

I had drunk about four beers by then but I was still going strong until Diego told all of us to head to our rooms because we all have a long day ahead of us tomorrow especially me and Donny.

After changing and brushing my teeth I lay on my bed in my desperate attempt to fall asleep. I tossed, turned, punched my pillow and even fell off the bed but I still couldn't sleep. So I turned on my back and stared at the ceiling.

Plain white stared back at me with tiny little black dots that kind of looked like splatter paint. I began mentally counting them to see whether I would fall asleep. Somewhere between 1 and 2000 I heard a tap on my window.

Thinking it was just my imagination I ignored it and went back to my counting. And of course I forgot the number I stopped at and groaned before starting again from one. The tapping began again and this time was more insistent so I sighed and decided to investigate.

I pulled back the curtains and didn't really see much. I was on the third floor and the light in my room was obscuring my view of the outside world so I popped the window open and stuck my head outside to get a better look.

"Hey Butterfly..."

I jumped back in fright and let out a tiny scream which was muffled by a hand but the didn't stop me from banging my head against the open window. My hand flew to the top of my head and began to rub away the pain.

"Mmmm"

He removed his hand from my mouth.

"What?"

"Ow..."

He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Sorry..."

I retreated back into my room and cracked the rest of the window open so he could come in. I sat on my bed and he leaned against the wall.

"What are you doing here?"

"Couldn't sleep..."

I looked at him dumbfoundedly.

"So you decided to come here?"

"Pretty much"

The nerve of this one.

"Through my window?"

He sighed.

"You're going to spend the night stating the obvious or are you gonna come with me?"

I don't know why but for a split second I got really excited about the prospect of us going somewhere together. Decided to take a gamble I dwelled upon this emotion and followed him out the window.

As idiotic as it seemed, we could have just went out the door but there was a certain thrill to going out the window. Once on the ground he decided to have us walk around the property all the way to the lake we were at earlier.

The water glistened in the moonlight, sparkling like bright stars across the dark sky. There was a slight chill in the air but not so much that you'd feel cold.

We walked up to the lake edge and sat there while staring at the water. For a few minutes we sat there in silence listening to the sound of the water being pushed by the wind.

"You okay?"

I looked up at him.

"What do you mean?"

He ran his fingers through his hair.

"That phone call earlier, I thought something serious happened."

"Oh yeah sorry about that. I guess I was just feeling a little overwhelmed with this whole trying to make Dee and Matty's wedding as perfect as can be. Can you believe I forgot the catering."

He chuckled and smacked him in the arm before I laughed along with him.

"I told him it was your job though..."

He immediately stopped laughing and looked me dead in the eye.

"You did not..."

I smiled sheepishly.

"Sorry..."

"You're gonna pay for that..."

He started coming near me and I immediately lost my smile. There was this animalistic look in his eyes that made me curious to find out what he would do.

Before I got register what was happening I was on my back with my hands pinned above my head and Donny tickling me with his other hand.

I began to wiggle my body whikdr trying to get him to stop and laughing uncontrollably.

"P-please s-stop!"

He intensified his assault on my body and I burst out into more laughter.

"Apologize Butterfly."

"I'm sorry!"

He stopped and I let out a sigh of relief.

Finally.

It's only when I relaxed that I realized my hands were still pinned above my head. My eyes locked with his and a wave of electricity ran through my entire body.

I could feel the static between us, it was strong, electric, intoxicatingly pungent. Like a second skin it enveloped us in a tight cocoon. I could feel his hot breath against the skin on my face and I wanted nothing more than to kiss him right now, to feel his lips against mine, to taste him and suddenly he leaned in.

My breath got stuck in my throat as his face got closer. I shut my eyes on instinct and felt his warm, soft lips on my... forehead?

My eyes shot open when I saw him move away from me. A cloud of cold encased my body and I for a moment I wished he would come back but he stood up and held his hand out for me.

Gracefully I took it and he helped me up and we walked back to the house. We walked in silence. It was excruciatingly painful but I knew none us wanted to say a word.

I climbed up to my window and bid his fairwell. I climbed in my bed and stared at the roof in shock.

What the actual fuck?!
