Chapter 57

Lucinda's POV

In the car me and Donny joked along the whole way. The awkwardness of a few minutes ago was gone with the wind and we were back to us.

Somehow that brought a euphoric feeling to my heart and I was incredibly content.

At that moment my phone rang. I picked it up and put it on speaker.

"Don't worry Dee... We're on our way to get the cake."

"Huh? What no... Forget the cake... Wait no don't forget the cake. Its super important but..."

"Dee, breathe. What do you need?"

He breathed in and out before he spoke again.

"My mom and Lou just got here and when I asked her about the ribbons for Lou's dress, she tensed and told me she forgot them! It's a disaster beyond disasters... I need you to grab some while you're in town. I'm pretty sure you have a picture of Lou's dress. Pick ones that match or I'll gouge your eyes out with a hot spoon."

With that he hung up and I looked at Donny momentarily. He chuckled and I laugh along with.

"Who knew planning a wedding could be this stressful?"

"Or scary..."

I shook my head and turned at the corner. I noticed a little craft shop and decided to stop.

"Let's get the ribbons before we head over to pick up the cake."

"Sounds like a plan..."

I found parking on the side of the road near the shop and parked. Making sure I had everything I got out of the car, with Donny following closely behind me and I locked the car.

Walking side by side we entered the cute little shop. It was filled to the brim with all kinds of DIY materials in all different colours.

"Damn... This place is colourful."

"Tell me about it... Let's go looking for those ribbons."

"What does Louisa's dress look like?"

I pulled out my phone and found the picture then showed it to Donny.

"Arctic blue?"

I nodded vehemently.

"According to Dee and I quote 'It resembles the colour of Matty's eyes in the sunlight'. That's why the theme of this wedding is all shades of blue."

"Very... Specific."

I nodded along and browsed the eisles of endless craft material when I remembered something important.

"Donny, a little bit later remind me to call Cindy about the flowers..."

"Will do- Uh actually I don't think you have you have to."

I looked up in confusion and he pointed behind me. I turned around and just two eisles away from me was the one and only Cindy.

"No way... What are the odds?"

I stared at her in disbelief. How is it that I find her at the most convenient of times?

"1 in 10 million..."

I looked at Donny in surprise.

"Really?"

He chuckled.

"Nah I'm just kidding. Call it a happy coincidence."

I put my hand on my chest in feign relief and sighed.

"Oh... You had me thinking you were smart for a second there."

He had a hug smug grin on his face.

"Yeah! Wait what?"

I wish I had stayed a little longer to see the look on his face but I was already moving towards Cindy while he followed closely behind me.

"Cindy... Hi!"

She looked up in surprise but once she saw me and Donny's faces she recognised us and a hug smile was plastered across her face.

"My none-couple, how are you this fine morning."

"Just peachy... I'm assuming you are too?"

"Perfect radiant darling. So what brings you two to Maidens Way?"

Maidens Way?

Oh! So that's what this place is called. All I knew was that we were going to the Xortis Lakehouse.

"The wedding venue is here. Which is perfect that I found you, how are the flowers coming along?"

"Oh they're okay. I just stopped by here to pick up some last-minute centerpiece supplies. My husband is- well should be arriving at the Lakehouse any minute now."

Just then her phone dinged and she looked down at it and then looked back at us.

"Just arrived a few minutes ago."

"Okay, thank you so much Cindy."

"Not a problem dear. Now if you'll excuse me I've got centerpieces to assemble."

"Of course, we shouldn't keep you. We'll see you later."

"Todaloo..."

She sauntered over to the counter, paid for her stuff and then left. After she left we went on to look for Lou's dress ribbon.

Multiple blue-coloured ribbons lay before me and I picked at each individually examining them carefully with the picture of the dress. If I choose the wrong one Diego will have a cow.

"Go with the indigo one. It compliments the Arctic blue and makes it stand out without overpowering or overshadoweding the indigo."

I looked at Donny with a raised brow.

"I have sisters!"

"I didn't say anything"

I smiled smugly and picked up the roll of indigo ribbon and took out my wallet to pay.

"Why do I feel like you're judging me?"

"Like I previously stipulated I didn't say anything..."

"Yeah but it's in your eyes..."

I gave the cashier the money and I waited for my change but decided to mess with him some more.

"Oh really... What colour are my eyes?"

"Hazel brown with specks of black around the pupil and a black rim around the ir-"

A giggle escaped my lips and the cashier giggled along too. I collected my ribbon and change and walked outside.

"You did that on purpose!"

"What was it that I did on purpose? You see a regular guy would have just said brown but you... Wrote a fucking essay."

I could see his annoyance simmering below the surface and quite frankly I wanted to see how far I could push him before he snapped but alas I have a list of two dozen things on a list to get done.

I treaded quickly to my car with a fuming Donavan behind me and entered the car, while in the process throwing the ribbon on the backseat.

"Look... I wasn't trying to- I just uh... Had a momentary relapse!"

Momentary relapse?

"Of what? A girly girl phase?"

I joked but if even more possible his face turned even more livid. Steam was basically coming out of his ears.

"Argh! I hate you."

He sunk back in his seat like an immature child who's just been denied candy. I giggle and touched his cheek with the palm of my hand. He turned and looked at me with a pout.

So goddamn cute!

"I know."
