Chapter 65

Lucinda's POV

As I slowly began to regain consciousness, I realised that I was lying on a hard surface, but not particularly. It was soft, in its own way but not the kind that you'd choose for your final resting place.

My head is pounding like hell. It kind of reminds me of the time Dami convinced me to break into a hospital and try random drugs with A Poltergeist Tears' infused vodka. Though an interesting experience, I will never do it again. The after effects are too dire.

Honestly when I find that Troy I'm gonna-

Wait...

Am I moving?

I opened my eyes slightly to see where I am and immediately closed them again from the harsh sunlight. Finally adjusting to it I opened my eyes a little bit more to see where I was. The familiar interior made me realise that I was in my car.

Why am I in my car?

Is the wedding over?

How long was I unconscious?

I looked down to realise that I'm not in my dress anymore but a hoodie and sweatpants. I shuddered at the thought of who could have changed me.

Decided not to make a noise I checked who was in my car. The light brown of the back of Dami's head greeted me in the drivers seat. I looked over at the passenger seat and saw what looked similar to Lucian's hair.

"How long do you think she's going to be unconscious for?"

Lucian ran a hand through his hair and I bit my lip. That looked hella sexy. Especially since Lucian's hair jet black hair reached his shoulder in length.

"I'm not sure Damiano... But I do suspect it's been too long. Her injury has healed completely and there's no sign of internal bleeding or bruising."

Dami glanced at Lucian briefly before he turned his eyes back to the road.

"You don't think..."

Lucian sighed and rubbed his eyes.

"I have my suspicions that my father could be involved in this somehow."

"Do you think he took her forever... I mean like her deadline is coming close but to cut the deal short?"

"No... No. My father is a man of his word. Unfortunately incredibly patient too. If he's waiting six years and 7 months I'm pretty sure that he could wait out two weeks. And besides, if he did take her forever, why is her body still here?"

Makes sense.

"Makes sense."

I mentally giggled.

"Perhaps I should go and look for her but it may take me a while though. That place is huge. If she wakes up, text me."

Should I say something?

Nah...

I kinda wanna talk to my bestie about what Uncle Eddie was talking about. Maybe he could help me understand it somehow. And I don't want Daddy Jr. involved in the conversation.

"Sure thing, Mea Rex."

He did that weird teleport thing he always does which I always thought was cool. But if never admit that to his face.

I did ask him about it once and he says his only limit to that ability is that he had to have visited that place before hand to teleport there. Sort of like leaving a marker.

Which I thought was a total let down and stopped the conversation. Conversations with Lucian were always short... Unless we were arguing. And most of our arguments were about something dumb or totally illogical.

Sometimes I think that he started those just so I could talk to him more, which is kind of sweet if you think about it.

Deciding not to say anything to Dami until we got home I shifted my position on the seat and stared up at the roof of my car.

About half an hour later we pulled into my driveway. I was surprised at how short the ride was but then realised that I could have started driving hours ahead of when I regained consciousness.

Closing my eyes, I pretended to still be unconscious so Dami could carry me into the house. Once inside he gently placed me on the couch and I sprang up before he walked away.

"Dami!"

He shrieked and jumped up in fright before landing on his ass on the floor. I laughed at him and he groaned while rubbing his butt.

"What the hell Mea Regina?!"

Once I composed myself I apologised.

"How long have you been awake?"

I thought back to when when I first regained consciousness.

"From 'How long do you think she's going to be unconscious for?' until now."

He looked at me accusingly.

"So you just made me carry you into the house for no reason whatsoever."

I nodded vigorously and he sighed and walked to the kitchen.

"Wait! I have news!"

He came back with two cans of soda and plopped down on the couch next to me.

"Oh yeah and what could you possibly have to tell me that's so exciting?"

He opened his can and took a gulp.

"Chase told me he loves me."

He spit out the soda in surprise before setting it down and hugging me tightly.

"Congratulations! And just two weeks short of the deadline. Now you can finally be free!"

When he noticed I wasn't reciprocating the hug he pulled back and looked at my blank face.

"This is good... Right?"

I shrugged.

"It's supposed to be."

His face softened and he gently lifted up my face.

"Is this about what we talked about back at the lake?"

I nodded and bit my lip.

"So what now?"

I sighed and opened my soda and took a sip.

"I don't know... But something else happened though."

"What?"

"Remember when I passed out at the wedding?"

"Yeah... Had a beauty of a shiner on your head."

I punched him slightly and rubbed the area like a hurt him. I rolled my eyes.

Dramatic baby.

"Guess who pulled my subconscious into hell?"

"Who?"

"Edmund."

"Edmund as in Uncle Eddie?"

I nodded vigorously and took another sip of my soda.

"What did he want?"

"He said he wanted to warn me about something. Something along the lines of 'beware of the screaming banshee'"

He held his chin in a gesture to show that he was thinking.

"From what I know about Banshee's is that thier associated with death. And if one screams, it means that someone is going to die very soon."

I furrow my brows.

"Could he have been talking about Chase?"

"It's a possibility but it's best to keep our options open for now."

I nodded in understanding and went back to my soda. With a heavy sigh I turned the TV on and we binged a show for the rest of the day.

Although the mood from an outside perspective may seem relaxed but I know inside, we were both thinking about Uncle Eddie's warning and what it could mean.
