Lucinda's POV
Obviously when I was bitching about how horrible the past few days were, I was jinxing myself for today.
To say that I woke up stressed was an understatement. Unfortunately I had been put in charge of seventy five percent of everything happening today so my morning consisted of speed walking, sudden rage spouts and onset screaming.
Now it was almost noon and everything was still a mess but we were only one hour from when the program is starting so I had handed all my duties to Tia's sister, not Mary who was slaving away in the kitchen, so I could prepare for the upcoming festivities.
Taking the quickest shower in my life, I sat in front of the vanity while the make up artist got to work. While she was busy, another worked on my hands while another attended to my hair.
In about thirty minutes or so they were done and I could finally see myself. The woman in front of me in the mirror was unrecognisable. To say I looked hot was an understatement.
My eye shadow was a mix of blues and blacks while my I had light blush with a deep maroon coloured lipstick adorned my lips. My nails were black with swirls of blue with tiny blue gemstone on the ring and index finger nails. My hair was put into a low-loose bin which was secured by a single long silver pin. The girls told me that if I wanted to let down my hair all I had to do was pull the pin out.
After I was done admiring myself I walked over to the bed to see two outfits layed out in their covers. One was labelled 'For ceremony' and the other 'For reception'. Not bothering to look at the other one I unzipped the cover and took out a pitch black tux. Smiling to myself I put it on along with the shiny black stilettos.
I looked at myself in the mirror once again and admired how good the tux made me look. Kind of like a sexy business woman. After a few pictures I decided to find out how Dee was doing. Grabbing my things I put them in my pockets, which I was grateful for, and headed to his room.
I knew that Matty and his groomsmen, which consisted of Donny, Vic, Chase, Dami and Lucian, were on the other side of the 'Lakehouse' which I knew was just a code word for an estate by a lake. The house was so frickin huge we could house about a quarter of Diego's cousins. The Velaquez' were a huge family.
Walking across the property hallway I caught a glimpse of outside, and I know that I had been outside about an hour ago, but it looked magnificent. Like all it needed was it's grooms. Smiling to myself I continued my walk towards Dee's room while I few people shot me compliments on the way there.
Once I neared his room I saw Tia pacing outside the door and I furrowed my brows. Once she noticed my presence she hurried over to me and held both of my hands. I could see the worry in her eyes and my expression softened to caring one.
"Tia... What's wrong?"
"It's Diego... He's worried."
I tilted my head to the side slightly in confusion.
"What exactly is he worried about?"
"According to him, everything!"
It's in Diego's nature to worry. I think he gets it from Tia. I needed to get to the bottom of this and soon. The ceremony is about to start.
"Let me talk to him."
She nodded vigorously before thanking me and walking away, I'm assuming to greet guest. I turned to the door, took a deep breath and knocked before I entered.
Not really sure if anyone heard my knock with the chaotic scene going on in the room I closed the door and proceeded with caution. The make up artist was standing in the corner, awkward, while Dee rummaged through a bag on the bed mumbling a bunch of incoherent words.
"Dee?"
He looked up momentarily from what he was doing and gave me a once over before loosing interest in whatever he was doing and approached me.
"Damn girl! You look hot."
"And you look like a hot mess... What's going on?"
He snorted.
"What do you mean what's 'going' on? Everythings totally fine."
He went back to the bed and to looking at random things. It looked a lot like he was trying to avoid something by busying himself with something else.
I walked up to him and held both his hands to stop him from his unnecessary fidgeting and made him sit down on the bed. I looked him directly in the eyes and spoke.
"Honey... What's wrong?"
He tried to look away but I held his gaze firm before he broke and a tear rolled down his cheek. I wiped it away and waited for him to talk.
"I just... I don't know. I've been waiting for this day ever since Matty proposed but ever since last night I've kinda just been in my head about it and I just don't know anymore."
"Darling it's okay to have cold feet, it wouldn't be a real marriage if you didn't doubt it at first. That way when it happens you know you made the right decision. Is it Matty? Did he do something?"
He chuckled lowly then sniffeled before smiling.
"No... He's perfect. It's just... What if I'm not good enough to be his husband..."
"Nonsense! No one will ever be good enough for my bestie... No matter what they think. I like Matty but if he makes you feel insecure about yourself I say we blow this popsicle stand and get some well... Popsicles."
I managed to make him laugh and he feel back on the bed and dragged me down with him.
"You're a crazy bitch, y'know?"
"Only the best for my bestie... And hey if you need me to kill him, I'll do it. No questions asked."
"Yeah I know. But if you go anywhere near him, I'll skin you alive."
"Got it loud and clear. Now let's get you married! Uh..."
I said looking at the woman in the corner who was watching our encounter. She got the impression that I wanted to know her name and she finally spoke.
"Sylvie..."
"Sylvie, how fast can you get him looking like the goddess he is?"
She giggled.
"Since he's almost done, about ten minutes."
"Okay great. You sit still and let her finish. I'll be back in ten minutes to come get you. It's fucking time for a wedding bitches!"
He laughed and moved to the vanity chair.
"I hope it will be me screaming that at your wedding."
I laughed and so did Sylvie before I left the room. Once I was out of his sight my smile sank from Diego's words.
My wedding.
