Chapter 3- The broken glasses

Karan's POV.

I don't know why she kept rolling her eyes away from me the moment I caught her gaze. Okay, does she remember me?

No she would never. I mean I was the nerd of the school! And she was the popular queen. She might not even know that I ever existed.

And the worst part. The interview! She just kept ignoring me and kept staring at the stupid walls and interior. She is so intimidating sometime.

"Hey?" Samir stepped in my cabin. I carefully picked up the broken glasses and placed it on my desk.

Also I signaled the tour guide to take the visitors some other part of the building. Some of them were whispering, god know what?

"What was that?" He stated and kept the annual reports on my desk.

"Did you see the big plump on her forehead...?" He scoffed and took a seat.

What plump?

"What plump?" I asked him.

"The big one! On her forehead! How could you miss that? I mean it was this big!" He showed me the size of the bruise by folding is fingers.

Am I in trouble? Yeah whatever who cares?

"That was my new secretary Divya!"

He was about to take a sip from his drink when he almost choked and shoved it back on the table with a thud noise.

"Divya Rathode!?" He yelled.

I walked around the desk after picking up the annual reports and nodded.

"Oh my god! She was Divya? Your high school crush - Divya?" He stood up as he wiped the few drops of his drink, off his suit.

"Yes Samir...!" I stated. Then I flipped over few pages and then raised my sight to look at him staring at me with an awe.

"What?" I smirked. Sheepishly.

"Oh my god Karan! You know who you are? You are Romeo!" He teased and paced back and forth.

"Ok Samir! Let me clear this out, she came to me! For the job! So I had to hire her...."

"But you hired the other guy? Right?" Okay detective! Stop it now!

"Umm, yeah! But I need an assistant, so-"

"You already have one - Nina!" Stop it Sherlock!

"Okay fine! I might still have a little thing for her ...." I confessed. He shook his head and scoffed. Then he stepped to the other side and rested his palm for support on my desk and said.

"No no, no, say it!"

"Wh-"

"Say that you love her!" He was grinning like a cupid, ready to pierce my heart with his arrow.

"What are we? Fifteen again?" I tried to change the topic...

"You sent her hundred roses! On her birthday for five years from now! Are you telling me that you have a little thing left for her? Pfft ! I don't think so...." but failed eventually.

"You are in love!" He teased while dragging the O in love word.

"You know what happened that day right? And you still think that I'm in love with her? No Samir!" I stood up clinging on the reports and walked out.

Then heading straight to the conference room I walked out from the elevator. As soon as I was about to enter the corridor that led to the room I heard some one scream.

I peeped through the wall that was just next to the cabin and saw her in some stranger's arms. They were so close!

Oh no wait I knew this guy! He was in her batch for one year! Great!

I stomped out from there and walked into the room. The door swung opened and banged with a loud noise as soon as I was in the room. They all turned their heads, and trembled towards their seats.

With a great force I banged my palm and the file on the table.

They all jerked back from their seats and gasped with fear. My both palms resting for support as I leaned in for support.

"You!" I pointed to one of the manager.

"Tell me the process of buying a fruit!"

"A fruit?-"

"Any fruit!" I snapped he stood up and began mumbling words I didn't even bothered to listen and instead walked towards the window and looked out at the at the city. Shinning like gold in sun's rays. Just like the day I met her.

Flash back.

"Hey you! Watch and walk!" The big guy I never ever met in my life mocked at me. It was the fifth time this month.

I didn't wanted to go to school as the past nine grades I was being home schooled. I knew that I was different than others. Others as in the popular kids and different as in - I was a nerd!

My uniform was shinning brightly as the others just casually dressed in their uniforms and ties hanging just below their collar bones.

I looked around and saw that there were so many groups! Already formed. I felt that I will regret this for my entire life.

Quickly I walked towards the classroom not making any eye contact and smashed my head on the wall! I fell on my back and my glasses smashed against that huge guy's giant feet! Which by the way were so big! That it could cover Sri Lanka!

Okay I know, people don't laugh at nerdy jokes. So anyway, no one even bothered to help me get up. That's when I heard her voice for the first time! Her laugh tickling my ear. Her laugh made me blush. She stepped out from the crowd and covered her mouth to control it.

As soon as I got up the laughter was gone as she pulled me at a side and said.

"Are you hurt?" I shook my head. Staring at her blankly. I never ever felt like this before!

"Can you speak?" She asked me. Her smile faded away as soon as I shook my head. I might have kicked myself right there- mentally.

"Ok, so go straight, " she said pointing at the long corridor. "And you see that room?" She said pointing at some room. I nodded.

"So that's where the nurse is, she'll help you." She said and walked away. I stared her back as she was moving away from me, leaving me alone. Okay I know I'm being a little dramatic! But, still.... then she turned and smiled at me over her shoulder. That's it! Enough to make a guy go crazy for you!

"And what else can you think of?" I said coming back to the present times and leaving my memory behind.

"We could add more workers in that section, so that the fruits are less harmed-"

"How?" I snapped at another lady.

She said something I don't remember what, but all I remember is nodding in agreement.

As soon as I was about to speak the doors swung open and there she was! Her eyes scanned me like an X-ray machine. Up and down.

"You were laughing at me? See happy now?" She yelled and pointed out the bandage on her forehead that was a little red at the center.

I remained silent. She stepped in and added.

"Why would you do that? Huh?" She yelled. All the others started whispering.

"I'm in a meeting Miss. Divya?"

She scanned the whole room filled with people, her anger slowly fading away.

"Oh sorry.... sir!" She mumbled and turned on her heels to go when I don't know why I said

"Wait! Stay here!" She stopped and turned.

"Nina?" I said gesturing my assistant to step forward. She jerked up and quickly hurried towards the desk.

"Sir?"

"At what time did you punched your card today?" I folded my sleeves up above my elbow and then crossed my arms over my chest.

"Sir at...8...15?"she stammered.

"You were late fifteen minutes? Right?" She fiddled with her fingers.

I slammed my palm over the table and she stepped back with fear. She looked at me.

"Right sir..." she was about to cry.

"You are fired!" I stated and pointed her to leave. She slowly turned and walked out. Then I turned towards Divya as she stared at me in horror.

"The job is yours! Tomorrow at eight! Your salary every thing will be discussed tomorrow in my cabin! Do you understand?"

She gulped and nodded.

"Then leave!" Then I turned back towards the desk and dismissed the meeting.

I hope that will teach a lesson to her. Never be late! And never ever play with my feelings!
