"Only aim at the ones not holding weapons we talked about this," Chen Lan said to Feng Biao.
He hadn't purposefully thrown it like that, but he had trouble discerning which Oni carried weapons in the massive crowd.
Looking around he saw attempts to snipe the Green Oni but it looked futile. They were managing to block the projectiles thrown at them using the massive weapons they carried with ease.
Feng Biao grimaced staring at the large weapons. Crude as they might be if a stone or wood implement that large smacked against the walls the hole made would allow the Oni to flood in.
Feng Biao took out his crossbow. He had a few bolts left and decided to focus them on some easy to pick off Oni.
As the Green Oni lumbered in unison one suddenly shot forward displaying surprising agility. Running forward it carved a path through the other Oni disregarding their lives.
'Odd.'
Feng Biao didn't think this was normal behavior. Green Oni weren't supposed to work together, much less show this motivation.
The only thing he could think of was the Black Oni. It must have prodded them to go up the mountain.
"Chen Lan I think the Black Oni is near," Feng Biao yelled to her.
"Yeah, I think so too," Chen Lan said looking up at the sky.
Following her gaze, Feng Biao realized the sun was starting to set. His sleep schedule had been so terrible he hadn't really paid attention to the sun.
There was a good chance tonight was the night. The night the Black Oni attacked.
Under that blood-red moon. It would come.
Feng Biao forced himself back to focusing on the current problem.
It wasn't too close to the wall but it was winding up?
From that distance?
'It's not close enough to swing that club and hit anything...'
'But maybe it could-?'
Twisting its body the Green Oni swang and threw the club at one side of the wall, and in the next moment dashed towards the opposite side.
The Marked were quick to react, showering the Oni and its weapon in a multitude of Divine Abilities.
Neither the club nor the Oni managed to survive the onslaught. Both fell riddled with holes.
"The Black Oni sent that one in to test our defenses!" Chen Lan yelled.
As if in response the other 4 Green Oni began to march towards the wall, all in separate directions.
'If they go all the way around we'll have a serious problem on our hands...'
What had made the wall work so well was the natural terrain of the mountaintop. Large portions of the encampment were surrounded by large rocks. Forming not only naturally impassable terrain, but fewer areas to defend.
They had been lucky that the Blue Oni and Red Oni hadn't tried to scale the rocks. It was a weak point they hadn't been able to cover.
2 of the Green Oni marched out of sight towards the rockface while two stayed at a distance. Feng Biao saw the two who had stayed behind pick up other Oni and begin hurling them at the Marked.
The Oni flew at high speeds and became the ammunition of arm-powered catapults. It took considerable effort to stop their bodies from smashing holes into the wall.
"We can't let them keep this up, you 3 come with me," Chen Lan said pointing at 3 Marked on her right.
Jumping down without a second word Feng Biao saw some hesitance in those Chen Lan had picked. It didn't last long. The 3 chosen jumped down to follow Chen Lan who was making her way towards the Green Oni.
'I can't do that.'
Feng Biao couldn't order others around like Chen Lan. If he had tried that stunt no doubt he would have ended up making the trip alone. Feng Biao wasn't sure exactly what her background was but he could tell it was up there.
Looking back towards the battlefield Feng Biao saw Chen Lan was leading the charge and the first to make contact with the Green Oni. Both swung their clubs at her the moment she approached. Creating a pillar of ice beneath her feet Chen Lan managed to dodge them.
A single strike from one club shattered the pillar into pieces but Chen Lan had not lost her balance.
A moment before it had broken she had lept from her shaky position and was now diving towards the nearest Green Oni.
She pulled out her spear and drove it into one of the Green Oni. And in quick succession performed a gymnastic maneuver twirling in the air before landing back on her feet.
Despite the ferocity of the attack the Green Oni seemed only mildly annoyed to have a spear ran through it and wildly swung its club at Chen Lan.
Before it could get too close another Marked showed up beside Chen Lan knocking it away.
'She's got that under control.'
'Now I need to deal with this one.'
Feng Biao looked towards the rockface.
Scaling those walls from behind Feng Biao pictured the Green Oni. In the worst case, if they chucked something down below the damage would be devastating, and the walls would no doubt collapse.
"We need to stop those Green Oni!" Feng Biao shouted.
Not many took heed. The issue wasn't Feng Biao, nor was it the idea itself. It was the circumstances.
They were barely holding against the wave of Blue and Red Oni. If they tried to divert their focus everyone knew the result.
'Damn.'
Feng Biao saw no other choice. He wasn't helping much at the wall, his Divine Ability wasn't suited for this type of work. The others could hold just as well without him.
He would have to deal with the Green Oni, alone. Feng Biao quickly ran over to the rockface and scrambled up. With his Divinity enhanced body it was an easy task.
'But can I really beat two Green Oni?'
Feng Biao wasn't sure. The upper limits of the Vajra were a reflection of his own limits. The fights he had until now were easy. Blue and Red Oni, while dangerous, were simple to deal with given proper planning.
Here he would be facing beings well above them with no real plan. No tricks or plans to close the gap.
