Chapter 3- Learning about enchanting

Leo was stunned for a couple of seconds, before realizing that it worked, Alistair knew something about Francis, and not only that, it was his brother.

"I heard his story from Robert, that guy from the inn," Leo said to the anxious Alistair who was staring at him.

"Oh, It had to be him. That Robert always gets drunk and spills out everything. Anyway, what do you know about my brother?" Alistair asked.

"Not much, only that he was a total badass when it came to crafting," Leo wasn't going to tell him about the Quest because, well, Alistair was an NPC—but the thought of telling him about the lab crossed his mind. Would Alistair be able to help him?

"I figured. Even I don't know where he is. That bastard vanished years ago, and I know he's not dead. He's probably somewhere doing some crazy research as he always does," Alistair was certain that his brother was not dead. He would not accept that fact.

"So, did he tell you something when he left?" asked Leo, looking for some clues about that mysterious lab he was after.

"Hm, now that you asked, I think he did," Alistair started to scratch his hair, trying to remember.

"He was running from someone, I remember now. One day, he appeared in the middle of the night and said something about a lab, I don't remember the exact words. He didn't say he was running from something, but I know it. Francis was scared that night, and in a hurry, so something must have happened." to Leo's surprise, Alistair knew something about the lab already, even though he didn't seem to remember it.

"What did he say about the lab? Robert also said something about it," Leo said.

"Wait, what? How did Robert know something about my brother's lab? I thought only me and him knew about its existence," Alistair was suspicious about Robert, and for good reason. Robert knew about his brother's lab, and that was a secret between them. Who exactly is Robert?

Leo listened carefully to Alistair's words, and he also started to think that something was wrong with Robert. He knew something that he wasn't supposed to, and he spilled that information quite easily, which was strange. And there was also the fact that he gave Leo a quest of SSS difficulty. That NPC has to be important in some way.

"Well, thank you for all the information, Alistair. I'll try to find your glasses and perhaps we can discuss lather about your brother's lab and that guy, Robert," Leo said.

"All right. After you find my glasses come to find me, I think you'll be suited to learn about enchanting," Alistair said that and went back to look at strange papers that were above his table.

Leo had no clue about just where Alistair's glasses were, and look for it would be boring as hell, but it had to be done. The house was small, but it was so disorganized that made everything more difficult.

After looking for almost 45 minutes, Leo finally found it, behind some furniture, well hidden.

Ding Alistair Glasses found

Ding Quest Completed

Ding 20 XP

System notifications popped in front of Leo's eyes bringing him the good news.

"20 XP, that's good. I need 100 points to level up, so it still has a long way to go. Let's see how much XP does enchanting gives me. If it's poor, then how am I suppose to level up?" Leo thought as he returned to where Alistair was.

"Here, I found it," he said, delivering a pair of glasses.

"Thank you, thank you. I was getting crazy trying to work without being able to see it properly. Now, shall we discuss more about my brother's lab?" Alistair said with a serious face.

"Do you know something else? Or are we both completely lost?" asked Leo.

"I only know what you know," said Alistair, which made Leo sad for a brief moment, as Alistair said one more thing, "but I think I know where it is," he said, smiling.

"How?" Leo wanted to know more, because at that point, Alistair had the advantages, and if Leo wanted some rewards, he would have to even things up.

"I'll not share that so easily with you. What stops you from going there and grabbing the things that have value before me?" Alistair said.

"Nothing stops me, and nothing stops you from telling me the wrong place and screwing me up," Alistair got surprised after hearing what Leo said.

"You do have a point. Farewell, let's first teach you how to enchant. We need to prepare before searching for it, as they are tons of monsters outside our village," Alistair wasn't dumb to just go out without preparation. The monsters were abundant, and it was easy to get killed.

Ding New Quest Acquired

Learning enchanting

Description: Alistair wants to teach you how to enchant. If you accept this quest, there's no turning back. You'll not be able to learn another profession. Do you accept?

Yes or no

"Yes."

"So," Alistair brought Leo over to his tables, that same table filled with strange papers.

"Enchanting is not an easy thing to do, and you'll probably fail a lot, but keep it up that eventually, you'll succeed," Alistair said, and he didn't stop there.

"Before we start I need to explain what enchanting is. Enchanting is the art of grabbing power from nature, and seal it inside a weapon, armor, or whatever accessory you have. What I mean about power from nature is, well, magic." It wasn't hard to understand what enchanting was, as the name was already suggesting. But perform it was far different, and Leo had a lot to learn before finally succeed in enchanting something.

"Here, grab this," Alistair then handed Leo a small dagger. The dagger looked rusty and wasn't sharp complete trash.

Rusty Iron Dagger

Damage: 1-1

Description: A rusty iron dagger that can only be used to spread butter, and that was already neglecting the fact that you'll get a disease from the rustiness.

"What's this? Damn this knife sure is trash," Leo thought, but he didn't say that out loud.

"It's trash, isn't it? I know it, that's why we are using it for your practice. And, if you want to be my student, you have until the end of the day to turn this trash, into a knife that can be used to hurt someone," Alistair said.

Ding Learning Enchanting part two

Description: Alistair wants that knife ready for use by the end of the day. If you succeed, he'll teach you everything he knows about enchanting. If you don't, he'll kick you out of his house.
