Chapter twenty
The baby in her arms was still, unmoving, non-living and in a pool of blood. She staggered back from the bed. Her eyes scanned the unfamiliar room before her and she rushed to a nearby mirror. Why was she putting on a hospital gown. She touched her hair that resembled a typical bird nest and something trickled down to her elbow and dropped on her gown and she noticed that the liquid was all over her gown, staining it. Blood. Her breaths became shallow, what had she done? She rushed over to the baby in the bed and tried to wake it up but it didn't move. Tears poured down her face as she saw Connor emerge from a corner of the room.
"Good job Elena." He rasped.
She screamed.
. . . . . . . .
She jerked up, panting heavily. Her face and clothes were covered in sweat. She tossed and turned on her bed as she tried to fall asleep again but she couldn't.
Somewhere else in the Leroy mansion, someone else couldn't get a shut eye either. Regan's thoughts were occupied by the Irish fellow that had done all those horrible things to Elena. Connor had definitely asked for more than he could man. He was going to pay for everything; the abortion, the rape, the abuse, he was going to pay. He made a mental note to call his sister first thing in the morning.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. There was only one person in the house at the moment that could be responsible for that. He opened the door to find Elena standing there. Her eyes were dilated and distant and she looked shaken so he guessed that something must have scared her.
"Can I come in?" she asked meekly.
"Bad dream?" he asked to which she nodded and he made way for her to enter his room.
She blinked at the sight of the majestic room she was ushered into. It was poorly illuminated but beautiful. The king sized bed was placed in the middle of the room against the east wall and on the north wall laid a large window covered in thick black drapes with gold lining. The south wall housed an enormous walk in closet which had mirrored doors. Her eyes took in the furniture that was themed in black and gold. Fatigue returned to her and she eyed the bed greedily but her feet remained glued to the tiled floor.
Regan got into the bed and noticed she hadn't followed. "Won't you like to get to get some sleep?"
That was enough invitation for her to get into the bed.
"Come here" he said as he pulled her close to him. She didn't raise any protests as r
Regan roped her into his arms, she allowed him to hold her, to cuddle her. His signature Creed Aventus lulled her senses and she felt relaxed with the way he drew small circles on her back and shoulders, thanks to the sleeveless night gown she wore.
"Reggie" she called quietly and softly.
He hummed in response.
"You are so quiet, is there anything you want to talk to me about?" she knew that he wanted to talk about what she had said on the patio.
"Is there anything that you want to talk about?" he asked cautiously. He knew that dealing with her was like dealing with a time bomb, just one tip, and she would be off the edge.
"Well, I was thinking that maybe you would want to talk about what I said on the patio." She adjusted herself to get more comfortable on his sweet masculine body.
"Yes, I wanted to talk about it-"
"Then, what held you back?"
"You talk like you don't know yourself. I don't how you would have reacted if I asked you about it. Remember the last time?"
She made an 'o' with her mouth, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Hush now, I hold no grudges Gennadios."
"Stop calling me Gennadios, Reggie." she said with a giggle and Regan smiled above her ebony tresses. Her mood dropped a bit and she asked, "What if Connor comes after me?"
He tilted his elegant torso, raised her slim chin and placed a smuk kiss on her bow shaped lips, "Then he has to go through me first," he said as he looked straight into her earth coloured pupils.
She smiled and lowered her eyelids, "Can I ask you something else, Reggie?"
"Okay"
"Why are you being so nice to me?" she asked as her lashes fluidly moved up to expose her eyes which looked at him.
He waited for some seconds before he answered, "I am not just being nice to you El. I thought lovers looked out for each other?" he asked with fake annoyance as he flicked her forehead.
"Ow!" she yelped and broke her gaze to blush into his chest.
