CHAPTER 11: A DILEMMA

The king threw a scrutinizing look towards this so called Marquis's son.

He thought for a second when he remembered that the Marquis did have a second son who was a flirt.

A loud 'boom' was heard in the instant. The people in attendance felt a chill down their spines as they all looked towards the direction of the huge door in anticipation and awe.

A young man slowly walked over and went straight to Ronald.

"Austin greets the king of Rumield Empire." With a slight curtsy he clicked his heels and turned around.

"Please wait! Now that you have come please stay for a while and enjoy." Ronald hurried over and gave him a look.

"I am afraid that I have been displeased greatly in your kingdom so me showing my face is enough!" Austin's boomed.

Ronald looked at him with disdain, "Oh who was it that displeased you? I will take care of him immediately."

Austin looked around for a while and lifted a finger to point at the Ronald's first in command.

"...…" The ball was silent.

Ronald: "How is this even possible? He was with me all this while. Do you even know whom you are pointing at?"

"I investigated him-he was the one who previously sent troops to Birch Street to get rid of a 'scoundrel'."

"Well that 'scoundrel' was me. As such he had insulted me and slandered my good name."

"Would you still say he should not be punished?"

Ronald was at a loss for words. He was already bleeding that four dozens imperial elites were gone. Now his first in command was being accused like this.

He was boiling and wanted to strangle him.

'Why?!' 'This guy is blatantly going against him'

'Hmph! Shameless enough to admit that he did it!'

'Really too much'

Ronald: "Then I suppose I deserve an explanation from you too regarding the deaths of four dozens elites."

The ball room was dead silent. Nobody would miss a verbal confrontation between these deities.

Austin:" An elite from the border pushed me and cursed me. He even said that I was a freak and did not deserve to see Your Majesty. When I revealed my identity he scoffed at me saying that a thousand of me would could not compare with even a half of yours."

Ronald was gloating seeing that they worshipped him.

'Hey but! He had to show him cordiality and be magnanimous to a kid'

So he quickly said: "I understand your grievance however you have already killed him right? Plus my 47 other elites also died so let's consider it over."

Austin looked at him with a grin and smiled.

"My parents were extremely corrupt and had to be assassinated."

He took a step closer with his eyes fixed on Ronald.

"I was also attacked because I was their son. The imperial knights are one family right? So its reasonable for all to be killed because they're brothers!"

A 'whoosh' was heard and the first-in-command neck was pierced by a dagger and his neck was pinned to the pillar.

The air became bitingly cold.

"You….!" Ronald was trembling and he could barely keep his composure. He was seething in anger and fear.

"We should remove weeds by their roots otherwise they will grow again and be a nuisance."

He glanced towards Jane and said to Ronald-"I know you understand that."

"As a gesture of long term friendship, I ask you to be on guard."

Ronald was puzzled and indignant at the same time. He did not suspect any abnormalities recently.

Yet if he heeded his advice it would be belittling himself and if didn't and something did happen he would only have himself to blame.

He was in a dilemma and did not know which to choose between his life and pride.
