Chapter 16: The So-Called Consummation

"Yu Xiuli, for dinner, I want lobster, Boston lobster, the globally limited kind, the ridiculously expensive kind that weights ten pounds each," she ranted frantically.

She decided that since she couldn't scam any money off him, she might as well gouge him with food expenses; she couldn't just let this grudge slide.

Yu Xiuli was surprisingly easy to talk to, nodding with a smile.

In an extremely gentle voice, he said, "After we consummate the marriage tonight, you can have anything you wish to eat."

Gu Xia felt as if she had been struck by lightning. What did he just say? Consummate? Consummate the marriage?

What the hell?

Gu Xia's first reaction was complete bafflement. It was supposed to be a marriage of convenience, so why would they consummate anything?

Seeing Yu Xiuli remain silent but gazing at her with those meaningful little eyes full of implications,

Gu Xia steeled her heart and frowned, "Yu Xiuli, what do you mean? If I remember correctly, the third clause of our marriage agreement states that during cohabitation, the female party must not initiate contact with the male party, and sexual harassment is not allowed."

"That's right," President Yu nodded with a smile.

"Then you still..." Gu Xia pointed at Yu Xiuli, too frustrated to know what to say.

"But it doesn't state that the male party isn't allowed to initiate contact with the female party... so, wife... shall we tonight...?"

"Ugh... shameless... and to think you're a CEO... utterly without dignity, I look down on you... repulsive... vulgar," Gu Xia spat several exaggerated derogatory terms in one breath.

Yu Xiuli remained calmly composed as he continued, "Shall we play some Fight the Landlord or Mahjong tonight then, to liven up the atmosphere? Maybe get to know each other a little?"

Gu Xia was flabbergasted once again...

Fight the Landlord? Play Mahjong?

President Yu, are you serious? You're not joking?

Unable to figure out Yu Xiuli's angle, it wasn't until much later that Gu Xia responded, "Just the two of us, we don't have enough people to play Fight the Landlord or Mahjong."

"There are bodyguards."

"Fine, you win..." The subject had changed so rapidly it was like a rollercoaster, catching Gu Xia off guard.

"Hey, wife... you had quite a strong reaction just now. You didn't imagine something inappropriate for children, did you?"

"That... weren't you talking about consummating the marriage?"

Yu Xiuli feigned innocence as he nodded, "That's correct. The hotel we're staying in tonight does indeed have round rooms."

"Yu Xiuli, you're doing this on purpose... you're toying with me..." In this moment, Gu Xia realized she'd been had; he'd deliberately provoked her to react. After a day and a night of interaction, she could confidently say that Yu Xiuli was a massive trap, the kind that could take up half the planet.

After teasing Gu Xia, President Yu was in a great mood.

He always knew that this bratty girl would bring him plenty of surprises and fun.

"Hey."

"Don't 'hey' me. From now on, please address me as Gu superpower user," Gu Xia said narcissistically, dusting off her shoulders with a look of righteousness.

Yu Xiuli's lips curved up slightly, "Support doesn't count as a superpower user, right? You're not even on the roster, and since you're just assisting an official Execution Officer with cases, let's not flaunt too much."

"Sooner or later I will become regularized, so please be more polite when you're speaking to the future superpower user."

Regarding becoming regularized, Gu Xia was confident, even though she was self-aware of her performance in the team…

But she had an ace up her sleeve, she had Lu You...

With Lu You's status, arranging a backdoor entry was a piece of cake, so... she wasn't worried; those who mocked her could just wait and see.

"Okay, Xiaxia. I'll look forward to the day you become a regular," Yu Xiuli said, his voice low with a chuckle.

"Don't call me Xiaxia, we're not that close..."

Gu Xia rolled her eyes again... thinking she still needed to keep her distance from this sly fox.

Now, Gu Xia suddenly realized that rumors were mostly unreliable; the tales had been quite scandalous.

As the youngest tycoon on Forbes and the Chief Execution Officer of VO International, everyone talked about how mysterious, rich, and unapproachable Yu Xiuli was, how he even dared to refuse dinner with the daughter of the City Lord.

Gu Xia had always imagined the man would be like the aloof and abstinent god from CEO novels—mysterious, distant, tsundere, charismatic.

But the person in front of her was the complete opposite: a trolling expert + a clown + a master of mockery + a stingy nouveau riche, with a contrast so stark it was staggering.
