"Have you heard that Lacity is beautiful? Want to take a walk with me?" Yu Xiuli glanced out the window, no longer in the mood to continue playing, and suddenly felt like going out.
"Sure, 100 dollars an hour," Gu Xia stated her price clearly.
"Deal."
Yu Hu agreed quite readily, having squandered all the money he had gotten from that sharp-nosed, monkey-cheeked man.
So Gu Xia planned to make some extra cash on the side, given that she would have her salary docked for taking a few days off anyhow.
The money she made could even buy her dad a new coat, as it was almost autumn back home and getting chilly.
Gu Xia had the aura of an ordinary townsperson, so when she walked behind the Divine Rich, she looked just like a little follower.
If someone said she was Mrs. Yu Xiu, almost no one would believe it.
Every Gambling City was brilliantly lit, and the architecture was utterly luxurious,
tantalizing the innermost desires for money in every guest.
Yet, Gu Xia had no concept of such luxurious nightlife; even the urge for a stroll on G City's gourmet food street was much more tempting.
Having grown up beside Old Gu from a young age, although not his biological child, their father-daughter bond was absolutely strong.
Especially after Liang Yufang left, the two of them relied on each other.
Gu Xia had often urged Old Gu to find someone to spend his old age with, but when Old Gu was stubborn, he really wouldn't listen.
Just like that, many years had passed, Gu Xia was 24, had graduated from university, and had been working as an assistant guard team member for almost half a year; both father and daughter were single.
Being away from home for the first time and this far, she really missed Old Gu...
Gu Xia trailed behind Yu Xiuli, her thoughts drifting.
She hadn't noticed that Yu Xiuli had already stopped in front.
So she bumped into him with a thud...
Her head ached from the bump...
Yu Xiuli turned around, just about to speak,
when he saw Gu Xia pounce forward, throwing a punch at the person behind him.
Yu Xiuli turned back and for the first time noticed a blonde with blue eyes in a sexy mini-skirt, who unexpectedly had a dagger in her hand.
If it weren't for Gu Xia's punch, blocking her attack, he might have already been stabbed.
Yu Xiuli immediately softened the sharpness in his eyes, feigning fright.
Then he hid behind Gu Xia, "Wife, you have to protect me."
"Damn... Aren't you a man, hiding behind a woman..." Gu Xia was exasperated.
"But you are a Superpower User…"
"I'm just an assistant," Gu Xia said, right before she saw the female assassin crazily lunging at them with a knife.
Fortunately, Gu Xia's reactions were extremely fast; after dodging a few times, she grabbed Yu Xiuli and ran.
"Wife, aren't you going to fight her one on one? Do we really have to run?"
"Fight my ass... It's your fight..." Gu Xia retorted before Yu Xiuli could say anything, pulling him up and running away, yet again fleeing in panic from pursuers.
Though it was embarrassing, staying alive was more important, right?
Gu Xia was in excellent physical condition, sprinting two kilometers with Yu Xiuli without even getting out of breath.
Seeing them head towards a crowded place made it awkward for the assassin to follow, so she disappeared.
Finally, in front of an inconspicuous fountain, the two stopped.
"I mean... doesn't your family own a Martial Arts Hall? Isn't your dad a retired old superpower user?" Yu Xiuli asked her, panting lightly.
"Yeah," Gu Xia nodded as she caught her breath.
"And all you've got is this cat-level Kung Fu?"
"Yep, my dad said that since girls have to marry eventually, there's no need to learn martial arts. Knowing how to cook and do laundry is enough, surprising or not?" Gu Xia smiled.
Yu Xiuli responded, "Too surprising; I almost want to applaud for your dad."
Noticing his sarcasm, Gu Xia continued smiling and said, "My dad also said that, post-marriage, it's the husband's job to solve all issues. A husband who loves his wife will take the blame and provide spending money. I just didn't expect you to be so weak... But of course, you rich second-generation capitalists are usually overprotected by your too-powerful parents, making you cowards. I can understand that; you don't have to be too hard on yourself."
