Chapter 57: Deal

[3 days before D-day]

"Paul."

As soon as I recognized the commanding tone from the captain's voice, I stopped at what I was doing. I straightened my back and freed my face from any expression.

I held the phone tightly in my ear.

"Yes, Captain. I'm listening."

By the tone in his voice, I could already tell he's going to deliver a command.

"We finalized the plan. And we're going to have a simulation. You need to come to the camp right now."

I almost dropped the phone.

I could finally see the glimpse of the tragedy that would befall Neuron. It's finally feeling real.

Without accepting the captain's command, I hung up the phone. I left the vacuum cleaner where I was standing, picked up my jacket I placed on the sofa, and left Neuron's apartment in a hurry.

I need to see the Chief.
