After they spent long times debating how will they act on Dr. Brendan's research, they decided that they will not agree to it because they have lack of power to protect it. No matter how incredible its prospect really is, it may not be valuable enough if its cost overweights its profit. Regrettably, they have no other option at the moment.
- The next day after negotiation failed -
"Those bas****!!" Ernest frowns and he hit his table hard enough to surprise his research assistants.
"What happened?" His assistant asks.
"Those cowards backed away from their duty to defend our experiment process. This won't look good at this kind of time," Ernest replies.
"Do you think a recent event has any relation to this?" Ernest's most trusted colleague, Dr. Rio Barbados, inquires him.
"By any means possible, they won't let us civilian know that kind of secret no matter how important we are. Not even this project may give us more authority on that area," Ernest helplessly explains.
"Shall we try to take drastic measures just in case a thing goes awry for us?" Rio suggests.
"It doesn't sound like a good plan but I doubt they'll change their decision," Ernest answers him.
"While they're not the best option available on normal terms but as for now it doesn't look like we have no other alternative," Rio tries to convince him.
"I really hate to associate myself with those brutes," Ernest responds. A few moments later after he gives it some concerns he says, "*Sigh* Looks like we have no way out now. Connect me to him through the encrypted channel!"
After waiting for a short while, that call was finally received by the other party. Unfortunately, it's just an encrypted voice call because they have to hide their real identity just to take some precautions to keep their record clean when the security system manages to crack their encryption. Even their voices are altered from the real ones.
"It's been a while. I never thought that you'll change your resolution this soon," an Altered voice greets him.
"Stop wasting time. We're going to get ready to join your bumpy ride," Ernest cuts his tease.
"You only have 48h window. Take it or leave it," the shady guy orders.
"As if I have a choice," Ernest replies and he immediately closes his call.
"Retrieve all critical data we have and pack up all those exotic minerals. We have nothing but time," Ernest commands his research team.
- Previous day before their escape plan takes place -
The emergency call rings on LTC Harrington's office. He immediately puts off his cup of coffee which he just about to enjoy some seconds ago.
"LTC Harrington speaking here, Sir. What can I do for you?" LTC Harrington ensures.
"Cut the formality Lieutenant Colonel. We need an available soldier to assist us in defending the west defense line. Apparently, they have an amazing stealth system and goes undetected on our radar," RADM Yavor orders.
"Yes, Sir. I'll inform other divisions as well to send reinforcement there," LTC Harrington answers. Without further delay, he immediately relays that message to the other 2 divisions.
Then he continues to contact Maj. Darren, his subordinate.
"Prepare our troops to reinforce the west defense line. Don't delay too much preparation because it sounded pretty bad there right now," LTC Harrington commands.
"Understood," Maj. Darren replies shortly.
Whether they like it or not, that commotion caused by their preparation doesn't fail to alert those mad scientists out. Even if they try to run away from the Vancourt town base using such desperate means, they still have to minimalize their risk to ensure their escaping opportunity stays high enough. It manages to catch Dr. Brendan's interest in that event.
"Looks like it getting worsened every day passed in this base," Dr. Ernest unconsciously states to another scientist who helps him to move some of his belongings.
"We have an urgent situation as well as they do right now in the next 12h," His workmate reminds him.
"I guess that peaceful days will end soon too. Let's move on, shall we?" He encourages his workmate.
- On West Defense Line on the same day -
RADM Yavor ends the last call by requesting reinforcement to defense his outer post base right outside the Revolt-1 entrance portal. He can only hope he'll be able to prolong the defensive war while waiting for backup troops to arrive on their garrison. They're not even sure they can hold that long because the opposing party has such advanced stealth technology so they assume that their opponent actually hid their trump card on the last incident. It makes them feeling nervous this time because they practically have no choice but to intercept them with all they get.
"All units prepare to intercept them. Get those beams ready and aim them on their flagship. Platoon 1-3 prepare to defend the front line and try to open up a gap on their back. Platoon 4 try your best to flank them. Understood?" RADM Yavor commands.
"My apology, Sir, we are lacking troops to fend them off. How long will it take for reinforcement to arrive?" CDR Elena his right-hand man asks.
"Hold them as long as you can. Our backup will be here in about an hour. We can turn tides over once they're here. Anyone has other suggestions?" RADM Yavor says. No one objects.
"Let's commence this operation! Godspeed!" RADM Yavor orders.
Straight after RADM Yavor initiates their defensive ops, all soldiers on the base move into their designated area based on their squad. They move accordingly to his command. It takes less than five minutes for the opposing flagship to enter the defense line fire range. Interceptors are already deployed and waiting for a further command before they try to advance. On the other hand, ambush squad trying to take a slight detour to make sure they aren't getting detected by their enemy.
"Reporting, Sir, all units deployed as you command. Waiting for orders," CDR Elena reports.
RADM Yavor looks at her then replies with a nod and turns his gaze on the monitor in front of him.
- Invader's flagship -
"Deploy our troops in a minute and let their defense learn how great Wolf Rider is!" Flagship commander instructs.
