Chapter 12: Liliped

His mind wouldn’t let him forget the moment on the fields two days ago. Despite how hard he tried or how many memories he attempted to replace them with. Jake kept seeing his brothers’ vile snarls as they looked down on him.

He had locked himself in his room since then, even going so far as to have Thomas bring him his meals there each day. Not that any of his supposed family seemed to mind. He had quickly learnt their routine in the short amount of time he had been there; his mother often stays in her bedroom or the study, never leaving the western side of the manor whereas Jake and his brothers were located at the eastern wing.

His brothers, however, preferred to stay outside practicing their systems and tormenting the staff. He’d tried to contact Cassian the day after he had sent him to have his back looked at, but the boy refused to even meet his gaze, giving him excuses whenever Jake asked about his injuries and quickly ran off.
