Argax had pushed his way ahead of the group, lighting the way with a ball of flame he had summoned in his hands. Palis lagged behind, telling the smaller man to stand at the entrance and watch as a guard. In reality Jake wondered if it wasn’t just to save them from the man’s incessant whimpering.
The tunnel was narrow and poorly made, as if whoever had constructed it had given up on it halfway through the building of the compound.
“How did those bandits even learn about this to begin with,” Palis wondered aloud, “It’s not like they’re very smart to begin with.”
“Whatever small amount of intelligence they do seem to possess however,” Argax answered his brother, “Seems to be putting us in too much of a hassle. I truly can’t wait to meet our lovely guests and repay the favour.”
Jake bristled at that, opting to keep his mouth shut and not antagonise his brothers any further.
