31. The Dance

Charlos also wanted to eat. Since this afternoon, he has not eaten. Right now, people didn't let him take a short break to grab a bit of food. So, he took a glass of grape juice from a table not far from where he was standing.

Charlos's popularity is even higher than the bride and groom, who are currently having a mingle event. They were walking around the room, shaking hands, taking pictures, and distributing chocolates.

How many colleagues approached Charlos, and he didn't even know all of them. They shook Charlos's hand enthusiastically.

Charlos's stamina almost dropped. Grape juice didn't help at all. He had to find something to eat quickly. The smell of food made his stomach protest even more. Wasn't there someone to help him slip away for a bit?

Charlos was ready to make a move, but instead, he bumped into someone beside him.

"I'm so sorry," Charlos said apologetically. It turns out it was Rissa. "Thanks God." Charlos breathed a sigh of relief.

Rissa is chewing something. Her hand was holding a plate full of almost spilt dim sum. Charlos took the chopsticks in her hands, grabbed the dim sum, and then devoured it.

"You're so hungry, huh?" Rissa looked at him worriedly. "I've seen you here all the time. I've been around and eaten all sorts of things. Here's the dim sum just for you. I'll get another one."

Charlos nodded quickly, his mouth full of food. "Hurry up!" added Charlos. Rissa had disappeared again quickly.

Charlos just bribed some food, but now, the bride and the groom turned to approach him with a basket full of chocolates. The cameramen, video, and lighting followed them. Charlos's eyes flashed in the spotlight.

Charlos struggled to put his chopsticks on the dim sum plate to shake hands with the bride and groom. Then, they took a picture with Charlos's mouth full of food he hadn't had time to chew.

For the sake of solidarity, the bride and the groom also puffed their cheeks like him. Charlos could only mutter, too proud to open his mouth. So, only his eyes formed a slight smile.

Finally, the busy group was gone. Rissa has returned with rice with several types of vegetables on the side. Charlos wordlessly explained that he didn't finish the dim sum yet.

Charlos finished the dim sum in his mouth quickly. Suddenly, he felt very thirsty. No need for words; Rissa already understood what Charlos needed. The mineral water was ready in her hand. Charlos took a large gulp of the mineral water; it felt so relieved.

Rissa grabbed the dim sum plate, then handed over the rice plate. He felt like a child being taken care of by his mother.

"Thank you, Rissa. You saved me from sudden death."

"What are you talking about? Who wants to die? Here." Rissa handed him another plate. "I'll give you a bonus goat roll. Try it. It tastes really good."

"Rissa, I've tasted all the food in this hotel. I—" Rissa shoved a small piece of mutton roll into her open mouth. He couldn't help but chew the food.

"The taste is good." Rissa smiled happily, seeing the expression on Charlos's face. "You have to finish the food immediately because you'll be busy again later. However, it looks like they're self conscious. You're eating right now, so they're not even approaching you anymore. You should have taken food earlier. So, you won't experience 'eating like crazy'"

"What?" Charlos glared.

"You told me once that I eat like crazy. Now, you're just like me back then. When you're hungry, you become like everyone else. However, I'm glad I could help." Rissa chuckled.

"Fine. I won't call you crazy again. Okay?"

Rissa was still laughing. Then she fed the goat roll into her mouth.

"Charlos, it seems like a lot of people are watching us."

What Rissa said was true. Several pairs of eyes watched them. Charlos imagined what might have happened if he had come here with Reva.

The lights began to dim, the music team played a softer tune, and spotlights shone on the bride and groom, who were getting ready to dance in the centre of the room.

Charlos had finished eating. He put down his plate. After drinking, he pulled Rissa's hand.

The dance party has started. It seems that all couples do the same thing, like Charlos and Rissa.

They follow the dance moves to the beat of the beautiful music.

"What are you doing?" Rissa's face looks panicked.

Charlos didn't really understand what he was doing, but to be honest, there was nothing wrong with dancing with Rissa because the atmosphere was so supportive. If indeed, this thing would resurrect something from his past, then he would prove that it was impossible. Think of all this for fun.

He flashed a crooked smile. "Let's dance."

It's easy to direct Rissa's hands and body to stick right in front of his body. Charlos could almost feel Rissa's heartbeat rumbling in his chest. Rissa's hand felt a little sticky, but Charlos still held it.

"Charlos, I never dance. It feels weird."

"Just follow me. It's easy."

Charlos guided Rissa to move along with him. They circled slowly. Each beat, one step, right foot, back once, then spin again.

Rissa laughed amusedly. She had remembered the moves quickly. So, their movement became more and more steady. Now, Charlos doesn't need to guide Rissa anymore because she moves like a natural dancer.

Rissa's laughter was so light and carefree. The woman who was dancing with him looked like a free-flying bird floating in the air.

Charlos could feel that his body had not hesitated to get close to each other. They even touched each other like this. Rissa's hand on her shoulder feels right, and it should be there.

Charlos's heart was beating fast, just as fast as Rissa's. Charlos had to admit that there was something passionate in his chest, and it seemed very dangerous.

"Charlos, this is so much fun." A beautiful smile grew on Rissa's face.

"Do you like it?"

"Yes. I love it so much. I like the atmosphere here. I love the song, the lights, the flowers." Rissa laughed.

"Don't let you become Cinderella. Only a few hours left for you to take off your glass slipper. Who do you think will pick your shoes up?" Charlos laughed.

Hopefully, the joke doesn't offend Rissa. However, it seems that Rissa is not offended because she also laughs.

"Fortunately, these aren't my shoes. How could I afford such great shoes?"

"And the dress?" Charlos raised an eyebrow.

"Not mine either. Ahahaha ... I don't have anything, Charlos. However, what you say is true. I feel like a Cinderella. I could be at a party, wear a pretty dress, nice shoes, and now I'm dancing with the most handsome man I've ever known. What if it wasn't Cinderella?"

"So, do you think I'm handsome?"

Rissa's face reddened. Her smile faded to be replaced by a suddenly tense look.

"Yes. You are handsome. Everyone has the same opinion. You are handsome and you have everything. How can a woman like me dance with you? You should be with Reva tonight, not me."

A glimmer of love radiated from her curly eyelashes. Charlos caught it so clearly.

Rissa loves him.
