Chapter 28: Delling, Part 1
Within encircling high stone walls vibrated a city filled with treasure of greed, the treasure of shrines for old deities of the moon believed to bring moisture to the dry air and land in the evenings. Rightly called The City of Palm Trees, in and out of the city lay copious springs of fresh water, and palm trees; an oasis in a desert land. When abundance was spoken in terms of land and treasure, everyone in the desert land would know Jericho to be prominent in these terms. Jericho did not know the abundance of any moral thing. Instead the city shut out anything resembling morality unless it was for the gain of their corruption in some way.
