Ailis, Part 3

Chapter 32: Ailis, Part 3

Confused, Ailis took an uncertain step forward, then awkwardly stopped when the graceful horse glided towards her. The man, whose blonde hair lay straight and cropped to cover his ears and brow, was gleaming in the light. Keeping his eyes steady, he nodded slightly, and Ailis felt heat burn in her core and spread out to the very ends of her hair. He both confused and excited her, which made her clumsily drop her bow. Embarrassed, she bent down to pick it up, but she stopped and felt the horse's presence right in front of her. When she looked up, being so close, the horse seemed more otherworldly than ever, and Ailis gripped her bow as if it was her only connecting link to the human world. When she did that, she could have sworn that the horse smiled.
