Colonel Norrett's first attempt at the evolution had failed, but part of his body had permanently mutated nonetheless. The following surgery had removed as much transformed tissue as possible, but some had remained, forever changing his body.

The remaining mutated tissue allowed the Colonel to exert power superior to ordinary fifth-level warriors but also impeded further attempts at evolving. It also conflicted with some of his physical functions since his body's stability was at stake.

Nevertheless, the supplement and the scientists' experiments had turned that partial hindrance into an asset, even expanding on it. Colonel Norrett had been half a step into the superior realm years ago but was above three-quarters into it now.
