Foreign anger, nostalgia, sadness, and happiness invaded Khan's mind while Snow threw a wild fit on top of him. The big bird seemed inclined to vent about their separation all in one go, and Khan let it.

Of course, Snow was virtually unable to hurt Khan, so his loud laugh never stopped. The Aduns flapped its wings, raged with its claws, and thrust with its beak, submerging Khan in dark-grey snow in the process, but pain never arrived.

It took a while, but Snow eventually calmed down, digging out Khan's face with its beak, pointing its three eyes at him. A broad smile had never abandoned Khan's face, and sensing the annoyance inside that big, feathered head prompted an apology.

"I'm really sorry," Khan said, lifting his arms to reach for Snow's neck to ruffle its feathers. "I would have taken you with me if I had the chance."
