The opponents didn't hold the clash for long and the swordsman jumped backward and lunged forward, hoping to catch his opponent off guard. Surprisingly, the spearman reacted just as fast and maneuvered his spear, efficiently blocking the swordsman's attack.
The swordsman had a slightly surprised look on his face but it soon vanished as he slashed again. He didn't want to give his opponent any time to react or think, he was trying to take him out quickly.
'Hm, despite unleashing so many attacks he's being wary of his opponent's weapon's position. Impressive.' Xiang Xiang thought as she observed the match.
The swordsman suddenly jumped back again, gaining distance so he could process his thoughts and formulate a plan. Unfortunately, the spearman didn't give him enough time as he saw the spear flying down on him.
He reacted just a second late and a gash formed on his shoulder. Though, he gritted his teeth and ignored the pain.
The swordsman rushed the spearman again, and this time he intentionally clashed with the spear. The moment he did, a smirk appeared on his face as he withdrew his sword and stabbed it towards the spearman's neck.
The spearman wasn't expecting such a move so he didn't have time to use his spear to block the attack. Instead, he bent backward and watched as the sword went completely in front of his face.
Sweat rolled down his forehead as a serious expression appeared on his face and he firmly gripped his spear. He gained some distance as he observed his opponent carefully.
The swordsman was quite surprised that he didn't fool the spearman, but assumed his battle stance again and rushed towards the spearman.
The spearman readied himself as the sword came clashing with his spear. He stepped back, getting out of the clash, but this time the sword came from another position.
He flipped his spear the other way and countered the sword, feeling as if he just dodged a bullet.
'This guy's attacks are dangerous!' He thought to himself.
The swordsman's attacks were like deadly gusts of wind. They'd come quickly and be deadly, but by the moment you block the attack, another one comes out of nowhere.
It was as if the spearman was countering after images instead of the swordsman's real attacks. He grew frustrated after dealing with this onslaught of deadly attacks and finally counterattacked.
He waved his spear like it was a staff, completely disregarding the blade on its end. The spearman moved the spear between his hands and arms as if it were a third limb.
He didn't expend any more energy than he needed to. The swordsman was surprised when seeing the spearman suddenly counterattack with a style similar to his.
The swordsman waved his sword to block every last attack from the spearman, using the same fighting style.
The two opponents' weapons clashed with each other, sending beautiful sparks flying everywhere and the loud noise of metal clanking. The villagers watched the fight were shaken to their core and some were even trembling.
'These two have a nice amount of talent with their chosen weapons too. I wonder who the victor of this tournament will be?' Xiang Xiang was both amused and interested in the entire tournament.
She knew there would be a couple of hidden talents amongst the villagers.
The swordsman and spearman kept ravaging each other with their terrifying barrage of attacks and slowly they started dodging each other's attacks.
The spearman's expression grew firm as he twisted his entire body and flailed his spear through his arms. It was like he turned into a windmill that spun at hundreds of miles an hour.
He advanced forward towards the swordsman without a moment's rest, hitting and countering all of his attacks.
The swordsman became frustrated and tried to counter the spearman's attacks but he was only met with a terrifying force that came with the blade of the spear. He tried to clash with the spear, but it only sent him staggering back.
Before he could make any more moves, the spearman's spear was already pointing directly at the middle of his forehead. He shuddered as he looked into the spearman's eyes.
The spearman then said, "You've lost." with a firm expression.
The swordsman had a crestfallen expression but he gritted his teeth and dropped his weapon. He had no choice but to admit defeat, how was he supposed to defend or counter such a set of moves?
He had no idea where the spearman would attack next because of how he was spinning. Not to mention, the spearman was moving the spear in between his arms, and around him.
The swordsman was completely suppressed, but within the frustration and bit of anger he felt, a small burning fire of determination was lit. He quickly left the stadium with his sword after conceding.
Many of the villagers looked at him and the spearman in shock, but he only had one thought on his mind.
"I have to get stronger. And when I do, I'll get my rematch!"
"Number 12, winner!" The man shouted while holding up a piece of paper with the number on it. The crowd of villagers cheered with feverish expressions on their faces.
"Did you see what that swordsman did at the beginning?! It's a shame he lost the match."
"No, did you see the spearman's attack just now? What even was that!?"
"I don't know but it was amazing!"
"I know right? He was spinning around while moving the spear at the same time! I think he might be comparable to Lin Xun and Ja Feng!"
"What? We don't know that yet! He may be talented, but I don't know if he can be compared to those two..."
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see."
All of the villagers were talking about the match that they had just witnessed. It was no short of spectacular and amazing. The way the two opponents fought each other was just beyond what they had seen so far.
A burning passion erupted in many people as they became determined to repeat the spearman's skills.
'He's a talent indeed.' Xiang Xiang muttered.
