The scene shows the king of Northern Wei, Emperor Cheng Ming Wei in the garden drinking wine and reading a book when Wu Lan came in and bowed

Wu Lan:(bows) Father, you sent for me

Emperor Cheng: I called you because I noticed you're trying to back out from what we both agreed on. Listen, Wu Lan, you are the only person Bai Rong will believe, all my other sons have some behaviors which would make Bai Rong resist the alliance. He wouldn't give his sister to just anyone.
