Chapter 33

"That is true…" Helen trailed off thinking of how many times Isabelle took interest in a new celeb in a short span of time. At least she was more devoted to Kevin for a longer period of time. "They have the weird ability to find your home and stand outside till they spot you."

Eli rolled his eyes in annoyance at the thought. Hopefully, this little moment he was suffering would be over soon. Maybe if he paid Kevin to do something big it would take the focus off himself.

"You have the potential to be placed in some teenage girl's room with your photo being kissed against its will," Helen laughed out loud at the thought.

Taking a quick glance at Helen who was humoring herself before looking back to the road Eli asked, "Why must you be like this?"

Helen only continued to laugh at the image she created in her head. She waved her hand apologetically for laughing. Some of those celeb posters were abused daily. "You can't fight what an obsessed fan wants or wants to do to you."

Helen poked Eli in his ribcage, surprising him which caused the car to lose control for a second. He hadn't expected her to touch him so unexpectedly.

"Easy there tiger. It wasn't on my agenda die today," She said placing her hand back in her lap. Helen looked outside at the city which was starting to die down as the sun disappeared from the sky.

One thing she admired about Harlow city was the scene of beautiful lights when the nighttime was approaching.

"What are you looking at?" Questioned Eli, wondering what was so interesting on the outside to make her become silent.

"The city lights. It's really beautiful. I should probably get a high-rise penthouse apartment so I can admire this view every night," Helen replied still gazing at the lights which reflected in the car window. "I didn't have a sight like this where I grew up," Helen said but immediately bit her lip for talking about her past.

Eli remained in silence thinking about the life Helen lived before now. He didn't want to pry into her life by asking. Everyone had their own story to tell and he would give her the chance to tell her when she was ready.

There was that thought again if she would run away if he told her his story. It would be horrible but if she couldn't handle knowing other creatures or being around him, Eli would have to lock her away or worse, kill her.

Just to get an idea of what she thought he asked, "Helen, what do think of monsters?"

"What?" She responded taken aback by the unexpected question. She turned her focus to Eli wouldn't dare look at her and was clenching his steering wheel tightly. Did he view himself as a monster? "I think everyone has a monstrous side to them even if they don't see it. But we can all work on fixing it. Anyone can be a monster."

"Even you?"

Helen forced herself to smile so she wouldn't appear weak to Eli. "You can't help becoming one when you want to survive."

"What do you think about vampires?" He pressed further.

"The glitter covered people?" Helen snorted. " Are you planning to become an actor? What is with these random questions?"

"I can't act. Just answer the question," Eli replied wanting to hear her answer.

"I don't know. They're interesting I guess. Do you have some kind of interest in vampires? I didn't peg you for someone who likes supernatural creatures. Do you like werewolves too?" Helen questioned.

Eli rolled his eyes for a second time at the question. As if he would take interest in some wild dog. He liked the dead ones. "No," he simply answered. "What scares you, Helen?"

There was a long pause after Eli's question.

"Bills, children-"

"Really?" He deadpanned at her answer. Why didn't her responses shock him anymore? He was getting used to her randomness.

"You have the privilege of never having to worry about bills but those things are scary. The amount can have your heart rushing. There is no reason why some bills should be so much and don't get me started on children. Those things are little demons," She shuddered while remembering some of her interactions with troublesome kids.

Eli agreed with the statement about children. Small children used to inherit demon traits for a short period of time before they returned to being normal. It was mostly due to the upbringing they had with their parents. Demons were attracted to negative energy and it was easy to infect a child with their demon ways.

On rare occasions, some of the children remained demons because their environment never got better. They were dragged to the underworld due to the fact, a demon created could not stay above like the pure demons. Demons created would go on a rampage because they don't know what happened to them.

All because of the lifestyle their parents surrounded them in. Abuse, drugs, murder, and more.

"I take it you'll never have children?" Inquired Eli.

"No. I know not every child is the same but I don't see myself being someone's mother. I know I am not fit to be a mother therefore I simply will not have a child to find out what I already know. I also don't plan to contribute to the number of kids going in orphanages."

"I'll have my motherly dose of children by donating to the orphanage where I grew up every year," She informed him of her donations. "It also makes me feel nicer about myself too."

"I really don't see you as the bad person you see yourself as."

He didn't know much about her except she was a wild card and could curse like a pirate but she didn't seem bad. He knew what bad people looked like and she came nowhere near to being one.

"Because you don't know me good enough, Eli."

"Allow me to know more about you and I'll form my own opinion from there."

"Isn't that too much for a three-date situation?"

"Then we can make it more than that," He replied taking the next step himself. "I want you and I know you want me, why deny it any longer?"
