The next day arrived faster than expected as if the universe was in a rush to see Helen and Eli on a date again. Today Helen decided not to go to Essence and instead remained home to relax her mind. It was also an opportunity for Marc to take complete control for one day to manage things on his own. She hoped he wouldn't let her down with all the passes she had been giving him recently.
It was currently nighttime in Harlow city and the sun had long set as the moon rose to take its place in the sky. Helen sat in front of her vanity attempting to flat iron her own hair but found herself getting frustrated.
"I should just cut it off," She commented looking at the length in which her hair had grown. It made her feel comfortable having so much hair to deal with. And plus, doing her hair was a drag.
She groaned parting another portion of her hair to flat iron next. "I should just call him and call this off," Helen told herself tired of doing her own hair. "No, I can't," She quickly decided against canceling the date.
Helen would've changed to a different style had she not flat iron a large section of her hair already. Why did doing your hair sometimes make you feel like you want to cry? She was on the edge of having a mental breakdown.
She took a deep breath deciding to just push through with it to the very end but was interrupted by her doorbell.
"Oh thank you," She thanked the blessed person who gave her a valid reason to stop. Helen unplugged the iron for now before getting up to answer the door.
Upon opening the door she was greeted by Isabelle, Julie, and Jennifer. Helen hugged Julie first who didn't know how much of a savior she was right now. Why didn't Helen think of going to Julie's salon when they spoke yesterday?
"Well hello to you too. See, I told you she liked me the most," Julie spoke teasingly to get a reaction mostly from Isabelle.
"No, she doesn't," Isabelle immediately disagreed with Julie's statement. She looked to Helen who finally let go of Julie and said, "Tell them you like me the most."
"I like all you equally now come inside before my neighbors start to look outside," Helen ushered the girls into her apartment. She would bet money one of her neighbors was looking through a peephole right now.
One of these days she'll give the door a good kick. Helen didn't bother herself to peep at who her neighbors had over so why did they do it to her?
Helen closed the apartment door after the girls had all stepped inside.
"We came here to see you off to your final date with Eli or maybe the official start of many more. I feel like a proud mom sending off her child to school," Julie placed her hand over her chest feeling somewhat emotional. She then noticed the state of Helen's hair. "Oh hell no. Girl come sit," She ordered Helen as she took control of the vanity station.
"This is why I'm so happy to see you," Helen said welcoming their unexpected visit for this. Now she could just sit back and let Julie do her hair. Plus it'll look much better than whatever Helen planned to do with it.
"As you should, these hands are talented," Julie replied showing her money-making hands.
Helen and Jennifer glanced at each other before laughing.
Julie playing tapped Helen's shoulder knowing what the two were insinuating. She plugged back in the flat iron to heat up while she took a look at how much Helen did so far. "What were you planning to do with your hair?" She asked.
"Half up half down ponytail and hen add some curls," Helen replied. They spent an hour browsing the web for a hairstyle.
"You have some beautifully defined curls. Why not use your natural hair?" Julie questioned running her fingers through Helen's long hair.
"I want to switch up my hairstyle more frequently so I get in the habit of not feeling lazy to do something with my hair," Helen answered checking the time on her phone. She had more than enough time for Julie to do her hair and get ready afterward.
Helen already showered, brushed her teeth, and even applied lotion to her skin. She might need to rush her makeup when Julie was done.
Helen now realized she spent the majority of her day just procrastinating but she didn't regret it either.
"Maybe change up the color or something. I was thinking red," Helen said picturing herself with fiery red hair. "Or maybe blonde? I have to think it over."
"I think you could pull off the red hair," Julie said starting to work on Helen's hair.
"I'm bored already," Jennifer announced. There weren't many interesting things in Helen's apartment for Jennifer to occupy herself with. "I'll do your makeup while she does your hair. What color are you wearing tonight?"
"My black open chest area turtle neck shirt-"
"Are those the ones which hold up your boobs better?" Isabelle asked sitting off in the corner, watching the other two girls help Helen. Feeling herself becoming bored like Jennifer, she got up to stand by a window.
"Of course! I'm wearing my black skirt I bought the other day and my knee-high red leather boots," Helen stated.
"Okay wizard of oz," Jennifer joked as she started to do Helen's makeup. "Did you find out why he picked causal clothes?"
"No."
"I didn't mention anything about you and Eli to my other friends but with what I'm hearing from them and hearing from your dates, you must be special. Apparently, no one goes to Eli's home, not even his mother," Jennifer said applying the foundation on Helen's face. "Unless he rented a house and invited you there then you won't be special."
"Just the regular woman he invites to these place-"
Jennifer stopped talking when Isabelle threw something in her direction. It wasn't like she was trying to be mean.
"You could've hit Helen," Jennifer told Isabelle pointing to the item Isabelle threw. "Regardless, there's no reason why you wouldn't be considered special. I want you to go out there and grab his fine butt and claim him. Do you understand me?"
"Yes ma'am," Helen jokingly saluted as if Jennifer was her commander or captain.
"Good," Jennifer answered moving unto the next makeup set. If she couldn't snag Eli, she preferred for a close friend like Helen to get with him. 'Hopefully, daddy would understand when he finds out,' she thought.
"Ugh, guys. It's ten minutes to seven and a limo just drove into your building, Helen. I don't know what kind of neighbors you have but my gut is telling me it's for you," Isabelle announced to the group.
From one of Helen's windows, you could clearly see the entrance of the apartment building and a limo which just pulled in and parked among other cars.
Isabelle continued to say, "Coincidence? I think now!"
Helen, Julie, and Jennifer all moved to the window where Isabelle stood to take a look at what she was talking about. They all squeezed each other trying to take a peep at the limousine.
"That's definitely for you Helen. My gut tells me you're about to have a good time."
