13 Tatin’s musings

I've loved you the moment I saw you—your eyes, your smile, your nose, your lips, your hair… your face.

I found your snobbish attitude and strong-headedness incongruent with the frailty of your fragile, delicate, petite body. I wonder how an agile mind could reside in such a physique. All—every single thing— of you is perfect. Only God knows how I loved you—how I defended you at my own peril. I defied my own father and followed the dictates of my heart. I made sure you were all right, that day was bright, that your journey in that world would be easy. I've defied my own life. I defied time. And if I have to die for you over and over, I would, to save you… to give you life.

Tatin was looking at the face of Isabella in his imagination. He felt a little heavy in his chest. The challenges were weighing down his spirit. It was like a long, long time. He was seated on a grass in front of a peaceful lake.
