May is a beautiful girl and be even more so if she embrace her feminine side more, Helen thought as she study her. But from her appearance, she doesn't really care about all the girly girl stuff and she doesn't need them really, because she is naturally beautiful all the same.
Henry is a huge guy, all muscle and build with a strong jaw line but not necessarily a handsome face. He is okay but not he is not as significant as his overflated ego is portrays him. He is the least good looking but the most notorious of the group.
Despite their looks, Daniel and Jake are the most good looking guys, she has ever met. They joke and flirt easily like it's the most natural thing in the world.
May is also sweet and friendly and though Mason isn't a free spirited friendly like his friends, he is pretty likable; he just doesn't talk too much.
Henry acts and behavior like he is and the rest of them are his servants;
he is so different from the others that Helen wondered exactly what the element of attraction was between them.
He talks carelessnessly and makes demeaning jokes about the girls he's slept with like they were disposable wares, who should be grateful to have had the pleasure of sleeping with him. It seems to enjoy the attention and catcalls that he gets from about his conquests. He is disgusting human being and she wonder why any reasonable girl would be attracted to him.
"Why does he do that?" Helen ask Matt as they eat their lunch.
"Because he is an absolutely shit of a human being, an asshole. I don't blame him though, it's all those foolish girls he sleeps with that I blame. I mean why would you sleep with a guy who obviously disrespects girls and treats them like shit?" But I guess money is good motivator to lose your self esteem and the Knoxs have it in abundance."
Helen was shocked to hear that Henry is a Knox, the family that her works for. She tried to remember whether he's mentioned his surname when he introduced himself but she couldn't cull up the name from their conversations, brief as they were.
Now she understands where his arrogance and conceited attitude comes from, he is from one of the most wealthiest family in LC. He is not just trying to act like a royal, he is practically a royalty in LC because of his background; no wonder he gets away with all his bad behaviors.
"So why are you friends with him when you obviously dislike him?" Helen asks May.
"Who says he is my friend?" Just because we move in the same circle doesn't mean we are friends. The only connection between us is Mason. He is friends with Mason and Mason is my friend; and thats why people sometimes mistook us for friends." But no that dud is no friend of mine.
Helen couldn't help it, she just burst out laughing and it felt really good. It felt like forever since she last had a genuine laugh like that. She could see that her laughter had attracted some of Henry's audience and he seemed to have noticed because he is now back to staring at her. But she ignore him and turn her attention back to May, who is now chatting with Mason about something.
"The project is starting to come together and I'm really confident that.........." May to continue chatter excitedly while Mason just nods his head every once in awhile it's as if his head is in autopilot.
May suddenly stopped mid sentence and turned to Mason giving him a wry look "You know you could much than just nod your head right, I'm not a parrot."
"What! He looked at her aghast; Come on May, I never said that. I was nodding my head to show that you have my attention, didn't mean to make you feel like you were talking to the wind." He replied with the most beautiful smile on his handsome face.
"Right like this is the first that would happen." She scoffs
Mason knows he could absentminded at times.... Well most of the time but he never meant to insult May or make her feel like he was ignoring her; he just often have a hard time keeping up with her sometimes.
So place his hands on each of her forcing her to look at him before speaking to her in most gentlest voice
"I know I could be absent minded and I'm sorry; but you know I would never intentionally make you feel like a nagging talking parrot right?" He ask her laughing softly and she smiled back him, finally relaxing her tensed shoulders
It was the most sweetest gesture and it had Helen wondering that maybe their affection for each is more that of friends or maybe they're already dating. The thought made her feel sad for some reason she can't quite understand.
"Haaa! Finally the prince makes his move on the ice princess; how romantic." The sound of Henry's annoying voice jolt her out of her private musing.
"Whatever man; Mason waved him off as he released May's shoulders and stepped back from her. I'm heading back to class now, got some stuffs to take of before the next class; he says as as a walked he walked out of the cafeteria."
"Let's go Helen, May called out to her as she followed Mason out of the cafeteria."
"Oh come on May don't be a spoilsport; leave and let the girl be, don't infect her your cold nature.... Henry cracks and that earned him chorus snickers from around the table."
"I'd reply that idiotic statement but I don't want to go down in history as spared words with an idiot, so I'll pass." May replied sarcastically while she practically drag Helen with her.
They could hear another round of whooping laughter at May's comeback, as they walked out of the cafeteria.
It was only for a moment but Henry saw a flicker of anger on Henry's face before he completely mask it and joined the laughter like he hasn't just been insulted.
