Feelings Pt 2

MASON

I feel strange; I've been feeling strange since I met her and I really can't understand nor explain what I'm feeling. And it's really anoying cause I hate feeling unsure; I like understanding things so I can prepare ahead of time, but that ability seems to be eluding me since I met her and she smiled at me.

I Iove my space, except for the time I spent with my family and friends; but despite the fact that I cherish the time I spent with them, I never allow it to cut into my personal schedule. Yet I easily agreed to helping Helen in almost all of her class works to get her up to date, without any complaint to any of our teachers who requested me to.

It was as if I was forced or mandated to help her; it just felt like I developed an instinctive protectiveness towards her; I want to help her anyway I can.

It all started when Mr Charles invited us to his office after his class; and we had to walk together to go see him in office, It feels awkward walking side by side with a girl I just met but somehow it was ok. When we got to his office, he invited us to sit; then proceed to request that I help her anyway I can and again I accepted without question.

"Hey?" Mason, I know you must have your own study and other stuffs to take of, so it's ok if you can't help me with all the classes; I'm sure I'll manage somehow." She says turning to me as we were walking out of the Math teacher's office.

I looked at her and for some reason, smiled because the look on her face is just too adorable; and I can tell by the look on her face that she's feeling uncomfortable with the thought of burdening me with her own class works when I also have mine to deal with too.

"It's okay Helen, we haven't done that much in must of the class; I think I can help with that much."

The tension on her face eased a little but she still looks unsure, so I reassured her again by telling her that it's not going to affect me if we fixed a scheduled for our tutoring sessions. She finally smile and we return to join the others at the parking lot.

"So what does Mr Charles want?" May asked as soon as we joined them.

"Nothing, he joined asked Mason to help me with is class." Helen replied her

"Really?" That is some serious work you got on your metamorphic plate dude, honestly I'm surprised that you agreed.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that you'll be helping her but I know how much you obessess over your schedule......"

"I know May, we've already talked about it and we'll work out a plan around schedule together." I quickly replied to cut her off, so Helen won't decide to decline my help out of guilt.

And also to hold off my sister who has been busy observing us like we're characters from her favorite movie, even temporarily ignoring her boy who in my opinion; is trying too hard to portray himself as the charming boyfriend.

"I heard there is new senior in school, but I don't believe we're met; I'm Maggie, Mason's sister." She says as hold out her hand out for Helen to shake as she introduced herself

"Nice meeting you Maggie, I'm Helen Davenport. Helen replied as she took Maggie's hand in hers in handshake."

"Huh.... Baby, won't you introduce me?" Jason asked pasting on his signature charming smile to impress Helen

"Aww.. sorry babes. Helen, this is Jason, my boyfriend; Mags pointed to Jason as she introduced them."

"Hi, Helen smile as she took Jason's out stretched hand. "Welcome to Princeton High Helen, Jason returned with a smile holding her hand a little longer than necessary."

But maybe I just imagined it because I don't like the guy, I just get easily irritated with his attitude.

"Hey Mags; can we leave now or do you want to hang out in school a bit longer?" I asked turning to my sister

"No Mase, we can leave together, I'm beat and in serious need of refreshment."

"Alright baby, I'll call you later." Jason says Mags as he kissed her good bye and walked towards the direction of the football field.

I watched him as he left, and I must have been wearing a look of distate on my face because I felt a nudge in my side; then I turned to the look of disapproval on my sister's face.

"What?" I asked pretending like I don't understand what her look meant.

"You know what Mason, stop acting like you don't."

"Fine, I won't say anything. I told her, not meaning it."

"Thank you. She reply back sarcastically"

"Hey, do you need a us to drop you off at the station or how are you getting home?" I asked Helen just to diffuse the tension between Maggie and I

"No thanks for the offer, my dad is coming to pick me."

"Okay great, we'll see you tomorrow then. Maggie and May told her as they both got into the passenger seat like I'm a designated driver."

I waved her goodbye too before got into the car and drove out of the school compound.

"So what's up with you and the new girl?" Mags asked as soon as we dropped May off at the bus station.

"What do you mean what's up?" I asked back trying to delay the inevitable

"Oh... You know what mean, so don't try to dogde my question by asking one of your own."

"I wanna know if an alien has killed my brother and taken over his body, cause I know my brother would agree to anything that is likely to mess up his schedule."

"Come on Mags.. don't be dramatic!" It's not a big deal plus it's not going to mess with my schedule; I wouldn't have agreed to it otherwise." So please drop it okay..

"Right, she huffs in reply but thankfully dropped the subject"

And we spent the rest of the journey back home in blissful silence. I know the topic is far from closed; all the same, I'm just glad for the reprieve, short-lived as it's going to be.
