Caspian's POV
I was busy arranging some papers when I was interrupted by a knock at the door. I ordered them to come in and continued to what I was doing. The person came in and revealed Cassandra who had messy hair and was sobbing. I stopped what I was doing and walked closer to her with a worried face. I hugged her and patted her back to calm her down.
"What's wrong Cassandra? What happened? Why are you crying?" I asked. I let her calm down a bit and looked at her. Her eyes are still swollen. I wiped her tears and asked her again why she was crying.
"*Sniffs... I was playing in the garden with Tryce when an eagle flew and pulled my hair. Tryce tried to save me by bitting the eagle but the eagle was mad and pecked on Tryce's leg, now Tryce is limping in pain my hair hurts." She explained while still sobbing. I just hugged her and rubbed her back. As soon as she calmed down, I asked someone to fix her hair and they left my office.
I walked back to my table and arranged the papers before I head out to get some fresh air. I walked outside and to the town's square. I watched kids playing with various toys and games. I smiled and remembered the times when Cora, Clayton, and I played here once.
* Flashback *
The sound of a wooden sword clashing and laughter was filled in the middle of the town when as 3 children played with joy.
"Ha! I will bring you down evil sorcerer. I will save the princess." Young Clayton declared and fought the evil one, Caspian, to save the damsel in distress princess Cora.
"Someone help me! Help me! The evil sorcerer had captured me and planned to put a curse on me. Someone, help!" Cora called out.
"Never fear, for I, Sir Clayton Kier Dixon, will save me in the hands of this evil creature." Clayton declared and continue to fight with Caspian.
"You think you can defeat me? I am the most powerful sorcerer in the kingdom. Not even the strongest knight ever known had ever defeated me. Take this." Caspian also declared as he pretended to throw a spell on Clayton.
They continue to fight and laughed and watched as Caspian, the evil sorcerer, was on his knees in defeat. He coughed pretending to be weakened and pretended to be actually dead.
"Ha! I won! Here I come princess." Clayton proclaimed as he walked near Cora and untie her.
"My prince, you have saved me. For that, I shall reward you. What does my knight in shining armor want?" Cora asked as soon as she was free.
"I want the cookie that my older sister Cora makes for me. And I want to have it now." Clayton demanded. Cora laughed and so was Caspian as he stood up and dusted off the dirt on his clothes. Cora extended her hand to their butler and handed over her basket. She rummaged inside and grabbed 3 cookies and gave them to young Clayton.
"Here you go, my prince. And here's one for my evil sorcerer." Cora and gave a cookie to everyone. They sat and chat as they enjoy the cookies and tell each one story that filled the whole place with joyous laughs.
* End of flashback *
I smiled as that memory slips in my mind. I was interrupted when someone walked in front of me. It was a little girl with a bouquet of orange lilies. I looked at her and smiled with the questioned face.
"What is this little one? Are these for me?" I asked. She just nodded and gave it to me. I accepted it and smelled.
"It was young mister B who asked me to gave it to you." She said. I looked at her and pointed somewhere far. I'm not sure where she was pointing and I don't see anyone suspicious so I just smiled at her.
"Well thank you. It's lovely. Tell the person who asked you to give this to me that I appreciate it." I said. She nodded and ran away. I just smiled and was still curious why someone would give me one. I just shook my head and walked back to the palace.
I walked down the hell still looking and observing the flower. I know each flower is given a different meaning and I wanna what this flower means. I was distracted when I accidentally bumped into someone. I fell to the floor and I threw flowers by accident. I groaned in pain and the person who bumped into me looked worried and helped me up. I took her hand and noticed the small scar on her left thumb. I Stood up and saw that her eyes were hazel. I shook the dirt off my clothes and she handed the flowers to me. I took it she apologized, bowed, then left. I just followed her with my eyes and walked forward towards my office.
I placed the flower down on the table and went to my chair and continued where I left. I Picked up a file of paper and a folded paper note fell. I picked it up and saw my name was on it. I opened the paper and read it.
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
I read it and frowned with curious thoughts. How did this get in here? Who placed it here? More importantly, what does this mean? I slid it inside my pocket and ran outside. I went back to the hallway and straight to the kitchen. I looked around and to see if she was still there. I saw a familiar uniform and went closer. I turned her around and I know it wasn't her. I looked around the kitchen and one of the maids asked who was I looking for.
"What's wrong, sire? Are you looking for someone specific?" One of them asked. I looked around a bit more checking every face.
"Where's the maid here that had hazel eyes and short hair? She had a scar on her left thumb." I explained.
"I'm sorry, sire, but there is no one similar to your description that works here." She exclaimed. I was surprised and rushed outside hoping she wasn't far enough. As I reached outside, I stopped and looked around. I saw a pregnant woman standing there staring straight at me and holding a compact, bushy, mounded, fibrous-rooted flower in her hand. She smelled the flower and I followed her. I lost sight of her at the town square, but I saw the flower in the fountain a small note in it. I went closer and picked it up. I read the letter and it was written there ' SAVE US '. I don't know what it meant but I am confused whether this woman was a friend or a foe. I rushed back home just in time to see father heading into his office. I called on to him.
"Father! I have something important to tell you." I called out. He turned to me and motioned me to follow him to his office. I followed him there and told him everything that had happened today.
Third Person's POV
As the carriage moved, revealing the pregnant woman hiding, she walked back to her home and waited for her husband's return.
On the other hand, Prince Caspian finished explaining to his father the odd and weird things that had happened to him on that very day, his father remained silent. Thinking seriously and stared at the flower. He asked someone to bring in a florist. Soon later, a female florist, and also a friend of Cora, came in. It was Ellie Nash Thom, daughter of the owner of the biggest and only flower garden in every kingdom.
"You called me in, your highness? To what do I owe the pleasure?" Ellie asked. The king raised the flower and showed it to her.
"Do you know what this is?" The king asked. Ellie went closer to get a better looked and observed the flower.
"This is a Begonia flower, sire. The Begonia is a symbol of caution; it's meant as a sign of warning about future misfortunes or new situations. However, it can also be meant as a symbol of gratitude or respect. That is all I have known so far about this flower, sire." Ellie replied. The king nodded and told her that she may leave. She bowed and left the office. Caspian was left standing there looking at the flower named begonia. He asked permission from his father to leave and left the office leaving the king in silence and deep thinking.
He walked back to his room just in time to meet Ellie who seemed to be lost.
"Oh hey there, Caspian. You seemed busy so I'll make this short. Have you seen Clayton anywhere?" She asked. He wanna ask him why but he was too tired and his mind was clouded with many thoughts so he just told her where Clayton was.
"I'm not sure where he is. He might be in the garden playing with Cassandra or in the stables feeding the horses." He answered and continue walking. The lass thanked her and went to the garden.
