A demon

The wedding preparations were going on in the palace. News had spread around the kingdom about the wedding and the fact that the crown prince was marrying two women. One who is a human and another who was his childhood friend.

The people were also informed about the fact that Landon aka lady Lara was carrying the prince's child in her womb. The people of Arcadia shuddered at the news of the prince having an heir.

Landon was in the family room where the prince had asked him to be. Even Ara was summoned in the room, they sat silently in the room with their servants to await them.

The door opened and the prince walked in, behind him were women with lizard tails. He was so shocked at seeing this. The women walked in with the clothes in their hands. He wanted to look away from them but their eyes were very strange. His eyes were stuck on the lizards and couldn't look away. Their eyes and the way they blinked were so strange.

"Stand up please," the lizard said her long tongue moving around in them as she spoke.

Landon got up and the lizard kept him inside a walk-in machine. She pressed the buttons on the machine and let it be for a few minutes. After a few minutes, she stopped the machine and opened the machine to let Landon out.

On the other side of the room, the women were doing the same thing to Ara.

They were seated down again and had to try out different jewelry with the prince being the judge of whether it looked good on them or not. Landon did not avoid the prince's eyes like he was warned to. He looked him in the eye and unlike all those times that he would get angry he just ignored him mostly. It was as though he was not bothered by it.

Landon refused to be ignored by him. He got up from his seat and walked up to the prince. Even when he stood in front of him he didn't react. Landon became bold and took a seat on his lap and wrapped his hands around his neck. The people in the room, Ara included were shocked by her bravery but broke out of their shocked state and turned away from them.

"You can tell me if you are uncomfortable and wish for me to get up," he whispered to the prince.

"Next set," the prince ordered. The servants turned around and got the necklaces out of the boxes and helped Ara put on hers's but no one dared to go near the prince or the lady that was sitting on his lap.

"Her too," the prince ordered pointing at Landon. With no other options, he brought the necklace to Landon's neck but her hands were shaking at standing so close to the prince. She tried to tie the necklace but her hand slipped and she dropped the necklace.

"Leave," the prince said and picked up the necklace. He took the liberty to tie it around Landon's neck himself.

"It is good that you have accepted defeat," Landon said to him.

"There is a difference between what I am doing and being defeated. There is also a difference between being brave and being a fool. But who am I to lecture you, you are a superhero and you plan to save Arcadia from the greatest evil," he said casually with no anger or malice.

"Are you mocking me?"

"I would never. I don't have a death wish Lady Lara. Oh, before I forget I thought I should let you know that two hundred men were killed yesterday for your mistake and four hundred will die right after this," he said and tired the necklace around his neck.

"By the time you achieve your goal, there will be no Arcadia to save because I am afraid there won't be any citizens in the kingdom by then. They will all have died for a mistake that you make," he added and smiled at how good the ruby necklace looked on her neck.

Landon was lost in her mind, his body going numb from the bomb that the prince had just dropped on her. It felt like the prince had just poured cold water all over her body.

"You can do whatever you want. I am dealing with you. I will just kill people each time you step out of line, how are you who a heart going to handle that is your problem. As for me, I am heartless and with no conscious so guilt and regret are words very strange to me," he explained and pecked him on the lips.

"How can you do that? They are your subjects," she said tears flowing down his cheek.

"Because I don't have a heart. And they will be your subjects too by tomorrow, so do right by them. The choice is yours," he said clearly. The choice he was given was either to choose between being obedient and save lives or go ahead with his plan and risk their lives.

"What do you choose my beloved?" the prince asked him sweetly.

"I will behave," Landon said with gritted teeth. He accepted defeat and backed down for the sake of the lives the prince would take for the things he did. "But bear one thing in mind. With every passing moment, my love for you is turning into hatred. I am starting to hate you for the man that you are," he added to him.

"Good, I prefer to be hated and feared than to be loved. I am glad that you have spared me the trouble of explaining this to you," the prince replied. Landon looked over to him, his eyes tearing, he now understood why he was called the demon prince.

"You are a demon," he whispered to him. He felt disgusted by himself for falling in love with a devil like him. He wondered what he was thinking when he fell in love with such a cold hearted man.
