19. New Pets!

While Leon was instructing Alexis to run her mana through the strange object, she all of a suddenly jumped up from fright.

"It seems like it was an egg after all." Leon mumbles.

"You knew? But how?" she says while observing the little smooth black egg she holds in her hands.

"Well it was just a hunch, plus I just figured that out with my egg just now too. I wonder what these little guys will come out as."

"Yea! Me too! Hey we need to think up some name ideas too Leon."

Your right, but it might be better to see what type of creature they are and what they're personalities are before naming them."

"Aw..... okay. I can't wait for it to hatch, I've never had a pet before. My parents wouldn't let me back then and my papa had really bad allergies so we couldn't get one even if I was allowed."

"at least you have one now, and who knows these days these eggs could hatch into some fantasy kind of creature. They might even be one of a kind."

"hm, hm!" She nods her head excitedly at the thought.

"Well we've been at it for quite a while today so let's get some rest. Leon says while setting up his sleeping spot using some clothes he packed as a pillow.

"Let's!" Then she dives into her own makeshift bed and snuggles up with her egg like it's the most precious thing in the world.

Many different thoughts fly through Leon's head but he decides to just clear his mind and get some sleep for now. He does the same as Alexis and sleeps with his own furry egg tucked in with him.

.....

A couple of hours later Alexis sits up with her eyes sealed shut. That was the best sleep she's gotten in a while and she was sleeping on a cold stone floor. She uses her tiny hands and rubs her eyes to remove the sleepy dirt.

She stretches her arms up into the air and looks over to see Leon still passed out with his egg. She then looks down to check on her own egg but.....

"M-my egg is gone!?" she exclaims in surprise.

She furiously checks her surroundings. She knows for a fact that no one else is inside the tower so it couldn't be stolen. Maybe she just had restless sleep and pushed it away on accident.

She looks and looks but can't seem to find it anywhere. Just as a tears forms in her eye and runs down her cheek, she hears scurrying and tiny chattering noises coming from behind her.

She looks around but doesn't see anything at first. Back in the corner of the room she thinks she sees something moving. She slowly Crouch walks over to get a better look.

As she moves closer she sees a black shadow wiggling around like it very happy or something. Then she see legs and finally she gets a good look at the thing.

"Huh? What IS that?"

Turns out what she had was a little spider egg. It hatched and crawled over to the corner of the room.

"How strange." she says while observing the creature.

With all her attention on the spider and being lost in her thoughts she didn't notice at first. The spider is about the size of a human head, maybe a little smaller.

The think that she didn't notice at first though, was that it was actually eating a small dead bug on the ground.

Looks like shes an avid hunter even though she was just freshly hatched she's already taken down some prey of her own.

She carefully approaches the spider once it's done eating. Shes very hopeful in trying to tame this beautiful creature. It's body and legs are covered in a pitch black color with red glowing lines running all over its body and the tips of its six legs are also red colored.

The young spider notices the small human getting closer after finishing its meal. It was only just born and has no knowledge of anything yet. The only thing it knows is the one who raised it and kept it safe.

That was the girl in front of it. It gracefully jumps up in her hand while she gives a big toothy grin. She can hardly contain her excitement as she observes the little spider in her hands.

The little spider looks at Alexis and motions towards its tiny mouth with one of its front limbs as if to say that it's hungry.

"Your hungry? What do you eat though?" she asked but the spider has no way to communicate.

"Try feeding it your mana like you did with the egg. Maybe that's what she wants." Leon advises while observing the two from across the room.

She does what her says and focuses her mana into her hands where the little spider is. She instantly absorbs the mana like it's starving until she falls asleep in her hands.

"Looks like she full hehe." she sets the spider down in her lap while thinking about what she wants to name her new companion.

"I could name her something spider related maybe. Nothing comes to mind though. Oh! How about I name her ava.... Yeah I like that." she says while talking to herself.

Leon watches Alexis talk to herself with an amused expression. It's good seeing her happy like this. He wonders how long it will take for his own egg to hatch. These new companions will be a huge help in the future.

With all the excitement dying down the two start getting tired and call it a day. They both lie down in there respective sleeping bags and fall asleep. Alexis goes to sleep with her new friend tucked in beside her.

...

The next morning Leon wakes up after only sleeping for a couple of hours. Since the apocalypse started he's noticed that along with absorbing cores and strengthening his body, he also has more energy and doesn't have to sleep as much as before. It's a good and a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

He does his normal routine of setting up his camping stove and cooking some breakfast. He never expected to be in this tower for so long. If this goes on much longer they will actually run out of food and supplies.

While cooking he looks over at his little furry egg. He wonders about all the different possibilities for the creature in the future. Maybe it will be a good fighter, or it could even be used for transportation.

Also he thinks about if it can only be fed mana or if it can somehow use the cores to speed up its growth or make it stronger. So many questions and not many answers.

Alexis is still sleeping soundly with her new companion. He rubs his eyes when he see the little spider. Well it used to be little, is it just him or did it get a lot bigger over night?

Maybe he is just losing his grip on reality. After the apocalypse started its only been a couple of weeks and he's been non stop fighting and surviving and now he's been in this tower for so long.....

If he didn't have Alexis with him then maybe he would have already lost his mind.

He takes out the blue mana cube and slowly charges it up with his mana. He's not really sure what it could be used for but if he's got spare mana and time then why not?

The cube glows with a soft blue light while absorbing his mana. He could also give this to Alexis seeing as she has much more mana regen from her class. She would be able to charge this thing up to full.

Anyways it's about time to snap out of it and get moving. He packs up all his stuff into his backpack and wakes Alexis up. She eats some food and feeds ava with her mana before they move on.

They prepare themselves and with a nod from both of them they place there hands on the next teleport crystal.

They reappear in a dark corridor. Leon is immediately on guard but doesn't sense any enemies around them. There's a light coming from the end of the corridor. Leon commands both spike and Edgar to stay close to Alexis as he moves in front of the group.

He sends his mana into his golden chest plate and it slowly activates covering his body in golden engraved armor.

They move down the corridor while keeping there guard up just in case. After a few minutes they can finally see themselves getting closer to the light. As soon as they do it seems to get brighter and brighter until its too much and they shield there eyes.

When the light dies down they remove there hands from there eyes and look around. It's like another floor altogether but this one looks different from the others. There is a huge floating green crystal in the middle of the room. It doesn't look like it's a teleport crystal either.

Maybe it's like a battery that powers this whole tower?
