As morning broke, the sun beamed through the window. Taro slowly wiggled out of bed, not wanting to wake Harris from his dream, and went into the bathroom to wash his face. He saw that it looked rather fancy, with a sort of underwater sensation, and real aquamarine crystals that smelled like sea water acting as candle holders. His mind wandered as his thoughts from last night couldn't be shaken away.
"What am I gonna do? I had my mission. I knew what I was supposed to do. I...I was entranced...he was just so beautiful."
Taro said to himself quietly. His cheeks blushing red, and his heart slowly speeding up. He gently rubbed his hands together, wishing to feel Harris's smooth skin once more, and saw that he had a sort of unwelcome guest forming in his pajama pants, but he didn't have time to focus on that because the phone suddenly started ringing. He then heard Harris get out of bed, and answered the phone.
"Hello? Woah Gabriel, slow down. What is it? A girl? How did she suddenly show up in your bed in the middle of the night?"
It seemed something mysterious happened to Gabriel in the night, and thankfully that gave Taro time to get himself together. He started to gather his thoughts, making his "mini Taro" shrink down. Harris was giggling, and Taro realized he was staring at him from the corner of his eye. His face went completely red, and he turned around quickly, realizing it was a prank call and that the sound was mimicked by a Bluetooth speaker. Harris hung up the phone and went into the bathroom slowly and brushed his teeth.
"Don't be embarrassed, it's just morning wood, all men get it. Most of the time. It's fine by me."
Harris then washed his face, styled his hair, and got dressed in the span of 20 minutes. Taro was impressed at how quick he done it, and put on his underwear, pants, but didn't have a shirt, so he borrowed a crop top from Harris, who wasn't ashamed to admit he wore them from time to time. They both went outside, and down to a diner. It was a bit chilly, only 64 degrees, but it was nice enough to enjoy. Harris ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs, beef bacon with hash browns with maple syrup, and a cold iced tea. Taro just ordered a breakfast bento box with apple slices and tea.
"This place serves everything, and the best way to pay isn't with the money we were all familiar with, but with special gold coins called Gorudo. It beat normal currency, and is easier to develop. If the pricing has a dot behind the number, it's over a dollar. If it's behind the number, it's less."
Taro nodded as a way of saying he understood. They both started eating, enjoying their meal completely and making sure not to waste a single bit of it. After about 30 minutes, they paid their bill and went outside to have a walk around town. It was a beautiful day, the temperature slowly rising to 80, and everyone going about their day. They passed by a school for young adventurers. It had humans, hybrids, Mazoku, and even deitykin children. The children waved hello, and Harris waved back. Taro was impressed that he was so well known and well liked by even small kids. Everyone else element about their day, not seeming to be worried about anything for the day.
"You know Harris, I never met anyone so well liked as you. Must be nice to protect people so readily."
Harris giggles a bit.
"Yeah, I'm not exactly the biggest human fan. Seems hypocritical to say that, especially with me serving the force. But, I don't want humans to die, just acknowledge their flaws and fix them. So far they have, but not as much as I hoped. I know it's selfish, and I sound like a total bastard but, I just want a world that knows true love, loyalty, and happiness."
Taro looked at him with wide eyes and a better understanding. To see that even with his selfish views and desires he puts that aside to be a hero people don't exactly want, but deserve. He suddenly found himself giving Harris a hug, and saying that everything is going to be alright. Harris smiled and hugged him back, and they both started walking around for the rest of the day.
