As the day dragged on seemingly very slowly, the pair kept walking around. It seemed like a perfect day, until someone held a knife to Harris's chest in a menacing way.
"Alright punk, hand over everything. I know you're an officer of the law, so either hand it over or I slit your-"
Harris gets fed up with his ramblings and kicked him to the ground quite easily. He was never the one who liked long monologues, so he knocked him down and walked along with Taro carefully. He seemed more serious than he was before.
"Harris, are you okay? You seem upset about being in this place. Is something bothering you?"
Taro asked him, looking confused. Harris sighed gently, not smiling once.
"I'm a very selfish bastard. No one really knows that but me. Everyone usually thinks I joke around or I'm just being misanthropic again about the way things used to be before all this happened. But I always feel like I was part of the war that ravaged the world. Sure it seemed like it was inevitable and I'm just overthinking as I usually do. But no, I often saw the world only in black and white. Everyone was two faced, everything was a lie. No one cares anymore about any of what was going on because they were too caught up in their bullshit to do anything worth a damn. Even me. I even thought that whatever gods, goddesses, or devils were out there were just betting to see who screws the world up."
Harris started to tear up a little, and Taro couldn't bring himself to say anything at all. He could only watch and listen as Harris's heart started breaking.
"And every time I look back on that war, all I see is what my wish brought on many innocent people. Places like this remind me that I wanted humanity dead from their own creations of death and war, only to find out that it only brings suffering to those innocent people. There's no excuse. Even the crimes happening around the globe is something I often thought of happening. There's...nothing left but to realize that my selfish wish almost destroyed everything."
Taro hugged Harris, not letting him say another word. He understood every word of it, unable to deny the truth that maybe it was a wish to destroy, but that wish was built on the resentment of the past and it was twisting the future into something undesirable. Taro couldn't hold it back any longer, and finally kissed Harris on the lips. It was like a spark ran through both of their bodies at high speed and had turned into complete euphoria all over their bodies, as if they were covered in a cloud. Taro held Harris closely, not wanting to let go, and not caring who saw him anymore. He was completely in love with him, and Harris was in love with Taro despite all attempts to falsely justify it in his head. They both stood there for several minutes, not wanting to let go, but eventually broke away, shyly looking at each other, knowing what each other were thinking, and walked out of the alley, returning home, and relaxing on the couch, not saying a word.
