"Now, keeping these results in mind, whether or not anyone asked for you, you will all be participating in internships with pros." Aizawa-sensei continued.
"Internships?" Deku asked.
"Yes. At USJ, you already got to experience combat with real villains, but it will still be meaningful training for you to see pros at work firsthand.
"So that explains the hero names!" Sato said.
"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Uraraka replied.
"Well, those hero names are still temporary, but if you're not serious about it..." Aizawa-sensei said, when suddenly the door opened, revealing Midnight, who completed his sentence.
"...you'll have hell to pay later."
How did they pull this off? Was she just waiting outside eavesdropping until the time was right for a dramatic entrance? That's cringe, bro.
Once more anime logic applies, bullshiting away at reality.
"Because a lot of hero names used by students become recognized by society, and they end up becoming professional hero names!" Midnight said..
"Well, that's how it is." Aizawa-sensei added.
"So Midnight will be making sure your names are okay. I can't do stuff like that. When you choose your hero names, make sure you get a more concrete image of what you want to be like in the future, and you can get closer to it. This is what it means when people say, names and natures do often agree. Like All Might for example." He said, slipping into his sleeping bag, and slumping to the floor.
A stack of white plates and markers was passed down the seats, as everyone got to writing.
Minutes passed as Midnight got restless.
"Okay, let's start presenting names starting with thosse that are ready." She said.
"We're presenting these?!" Kirishima thought so loud he might as well have shouted it.
Ugh. I turned off mind reading immediately. I already knew what they'd choose. No need to continue reading their thoughts.
Instead, I switched back over to my regularly used Laplace Junior.
I wasn't going to wait and listen to all of their mundane shenanigans for the next half hour.
As I began to stand up to present my name, someone walked past me, going first.
It was Deku! How confident!
He walked up to the teacher's desk and gently rested his placard standing straight.
On it was one word - Deku!
Before he could even speak, I asked him.
"Are you sure you want to keep that name? It's originally meant to be an insult, isn't it? I may affectionately call you that because I know better, but others might not, you know?"
"Haru-chan, you were the one who told me that my Deku stands for Ganbaretteku! That I can do anything! And that's the message I wish to send the world! This is what I have decided. I'm sure of it!" He said, clenching his fist on his chest.
Ugh! Too pure. Too damn pure!
I'm gonna puke. My heart can't handle that sincerity!
"That's good enough then." Midnight said.
"Alright then, let's keep going! Next!"
Mina stood up next, and revealed her placard reading Alien Queen.
"Are you going dor the acid blood theme?! Rejected! Try again!" Midnight scolded.
Ugh. This is boring. I have better things to do.
Once more, I made to go, only for someone else to stomp past me.
"King Explosion Murder!" Bakugo revealed.
"No! Think again!" Midnight rejected.
"What's wrong with King Explosion Murder?!" Bakugo shouted.
"That is a villain name. That's what is wrong with it!" Midnight said.
Bakugo stomped back to his seat, as Aoyama jumped in.
"The shining hero : I can not stop twinkling!" He said, looking kighty proud at the name he chose.
"It's a sentence!" Sato exclaimed in disbelief.
"Too long! Let's shorten it to I can't stop twinkling. That's better." Midnight said.
"Right, mademoiselle!" He replied.
"Choose one - french or english, jackass!" Sato shouted from behind.
As Aoyama went back to his seat, I jumped up and speedwalked to the podium.
Placing my placard, I asked.
"So, I have three names, but I can't choose, what do you guys think? All sight, Paragon, or Argus?" I said.
"Argus is already taken by an greek superhero. All soght is a bit on the nose. Paragon, on the other hand seems just right!" Midnight said, to agreeing nods from the class.
"Paragon it is then!" I said.
"It's surprising though. Inthought you had opinions on everything?" Mina asked.
"I do. And my opinion on the hero names was undecided. That's a valid opinion too." I replied.
Of course, this was just a ploy to humanise me a bit more in their eyes. I had already decided to be Paragon years back. Nothing would have changed my decision on that.
As, I returned to my seat, the class continued, with everyone revealing their names until it was Iida's turn.
He showed his placard with just his name.
"Why not pick something like Jet-Burst or Roadster?" Kaminari asked.
"That, I just haven't figured it out yet." He said.
"Those are some great names though? Or something like Ingenium V2 or some such?" I said.
"Oh you don't get to talk about mu brother!" He snapped, seething in anger and hatred.
"Hold on, what up with you?" I asked.
"My brother is in the hospital because of someone who thinks exactly like you! Some anti-hero vigilante who hunts down the impure heroes!" He said.
Oh! Shit!
Right. The stain arc begins with Ingenium being hospitalized. I figured I had stopped it with my interference with Naruhata and the sports festival.
But apparently not, huh?
Guess there's only one way to stop ideological monsters.
"Look, I'm sorry for what happened to your brother. I don't know." I said.
"Hell, I even said in my sports festival speech that the right way to change hero society was through reform not murder. I am not the one who you should be blaming Iida!"
"Don't act like you didn't have anything to do with this! I've seen your videos. You've spent the last 2 years undermining every aspect of hero society. If you hadn't provoked them, maybe,...maybe he...." Iida said, choking back tears.
"Iida! Did I hurt your brother? Did I personally put him in the hospital? Tell me, Iida! Look me in the eyes and tell me if I did that to your brother?" I said, grabbing his face and looking him in the eye.
He glared at me momentarily before he siddenly turned his eyes away.
"No. You're right. You had nothing to do with it, or him. But...but.. it's my.. " he said, clenching his fist, nails digging into the flesh of his palm.
"Listen, I'll do something about your brother. I have contacts. Don't worry. I'll make this right." I said, patting him on the shoulder.
After the situation calmed down, fliers were distributed with other alternatives for those who didn't receive any offers.
Later that day, as I left the school, wide grin adorned my face.
My plan was a success and it was time to get another two pawns in my arsenal.
